I bought a basic simple dress this past weekend for $15.00. Its a couple of sizes too big but thats ok, I will have it altered.
Im trying to find something similair so i can show you, but havent been able to. So I have to use 2 pics to describe it.
This is the basic style of the dress. Just plain.

Only the top has straps and a neckline like this.

I want to "fancy" it up a little but dont know how. Any suggestions?

First, I love it! As for "fancin' " it up some, you could do some beading or lace around the neckline and hem. You could get some out of this world jewlery too. I think some big sparkly dangly earrings and big sparkly braclet with that dress and your shoes would be fabulous! Also, think about a beaded or embroidered wrap too in case you get a chill.

Ok.....I would like to find a cover up similiar to this. I think it would be perfect to wear over the dress. Adds a touch of something with out much fuss.

I love it Cindy. And the wrap would be all the dressing up I think it would need if you found something.

The dress sounds very nice and what a deal for $15! I like the wrap idea too ... with that all I would add would be a necklace, some earrings and a nice hair do ;)

Good Luck :D

You could find a beautiful broach to pin on the dress. maybe 2 matching ones on each shoulders. Or a broach or flower pin on your hip bone.
That would be very nice looking. And you could wear the pins again.

Have you looked at any bridal shops? I'm just thinking here, and it seems to me that in the bridal shop that I bought my dress, they had these types of things set near the veils... I guess thats the first place to start. i'm going to go check ebay and see if there is anything there like this!! I'll get back to you!

This one is a shrug...Not lace, like you wanted, but I just thought I'd post it for you to consider.

This one has a beautiful Jacket, but you have to buy the dress to go with it! Dang it!And it's a little more then I think you wanted to spend considering you bought the other dress for just $15.

If you like the shrugs, here is another...only this time it is a shear fabric...maybe more of what you wanted??

This is also a shrug...but is made out of lace! I really like this one!! If you don't check any others out, thats ok, just be sure to check this one out!!

Don't know if that one would interest you! (comes with a dress)

They did something like that on TLC...where it was a simple white dress with a lace jacket type thing pulled over it and they made the jacket with some opaque fabric and then sewed on the designs to make it look like lace...it really came out GORGEOUS! I love this idea Cindy! I think you're going to look REALLY beautiful! And how many people can say they got their wedding dress for $15! :)

Thats not a bad price to go a head and get it. My only thing is wanting to wait until I have the dress altered and clean so I know for sure what the color is. Right now it is barely an off white color. And its iffy as to whether that the true color or not!

I'm sure you will be able to find that one on ebay again. I think it could be a company who makes them then sells them on ebay, but I will go check!

As far as cleaning the dress...good idea, you'd hate for the two to be not even remotely close to the right color!!

ETA: Looks like they've got a store, though I didn't see any others of that particular item, perhaps an email when you know for sure and they can make you one or find it where ever they recieve them from! (or even in a different color if need be!!??)

You definitely did! That's a great idea to contact the company...especially if your dress doesn't end up being a matching color!
