View Full Version : What does your username mean?

WBandMe
11-06-2007, 03:10 AM
So I've noticed that some of your usernames are pretty obvious (but still wonderful :)) but some of them make no sense to me! I'm just curious.

For mine, my boyfriend's initials are WB. He came up with the name, lol. It was only after I had registered that I realized it looks like "w-band me" but I guess that fits for OW!

SerendipityCrafts
11-06-2007, 06:16 AM
My user name is our business name but our business name came about because of how we "re-met" - serendipitously :) We figured that it suited us perfectly.

Serendipity - Look for something, find something else, and realize that what you've found is more suited to your needs than what you thought you were looking for.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Danielle9608
11-06-2007, 06:55 AM
Mine is one of those obvious ones, Danielle is my first name and I will be married on 9-6-08

StarCoveter
11-06-2007, 07:08 AM
StarCoveter is the screenname I've been using forever. I think I started it when I was 15 or something (9 years ago). I was probably trying to think of something unique, and I love stars, so "starcoveter" worked!

HisMuse
11-06-2007, 07:15 AM
I started using HisMuse because one day a long time ago Erik said I was "his muse" and I've used it ever since.

TangoWedding
11-06-2007, 07:24 AM
Before FH was my FH, he was my dance partner. We especially loved doing the tango. Because of that, we're now doing a tango-themed wedding. :frogg:

70707Bride
11-06-2007, 08:36 AM
I was getting married on 7-7-07 so I picked that. Lol. But I guess mine is one of the obvious ones.

s_r_d3
11-06-2007, 09:33 AM
Mine is one that throws people off. s_r_d are the first letters of my daughters names and the 3 stands for 3 girls.

Measha
11-06-2007, 09:33 AM
Measha has been a screen name and forum name as well as RP name in various games for me (yes read that as: nerd) for several years now. So it just kind of sticks as my "web" name. Almost as many people call me "Meesh" due to it, as those that call me by my real nick name, Telly :).

ChibiAiChan
11-06-2007, 10:00 AM
Mine is ChibiAiChan... it's been my web handle FOREVER (most AiChan but it gets taken a LOT) Chibi means small, Ai means love, and Chan is an endearment. This is Japanese... I took Japanese for 3 years in high school and would have majored in it if I was not so poor =/

I always had a messy room growing up so my parents called me miss mess! HA HA!! I am still a bit of a messy girl :)

Nekochanpurr
11-06-2007, 12:19 PM
Nekochanpurr has been my web handle for like.. EVER.. Neko means chat, Chan is an indearment, and purr.. Well, is obvious. Yes, i'm a dork like that. Oh, and its Japanese..

tinkerjew
11-06-2007, 12:35 PM
Larry and I used MySpace for our wedding website, and we entered that as our URL title. It's the screen name I've been using all over the 'net ever since!

I told Larry a while back that my late father (G-d rest his soul) used to call me Tinkerbell when I was a young girl. Ever since then, he started calling me that. Larry also happens to be Jewish (I'm in the process of converting), so I fused the names together. Thus, tinkerjew. :)

BrideInCuffs21
11-06-2007, 12:44 PM
Mine is because well I am a bride, and incuffs because my FH is a cop, and well use your imaginations at to why we have cuffs... haha and 21 because its my fav number..... the caption underneath my name is well a cop thing.. but for me I surrendered to love and marrying him... haha

"PG" stands for my dogs, Princess and Ginger. (Although, I never thought I'd have a dog with such a common name as Princess. That was her name when we adopted her, and because the staff at the shelter said she was "too old and ugly" to be adopted, her foster mom would get her all wiggly and excited by saying "Pretty, pretty Princess.)

"Designs" because I do a little photography and graphic design on the side.

I used to compete in pageants back in the day. (NOT the Jon Benet type thing) I don't compete anymore but I do direct several pageants that raise money for a program we started in GA called "Georgia Queen For A Day" (This is where we go to the Children's Hospital and throw Tiara Tea Parties for the little girls who have cancer and other serious illnesses --- I will post some pics). One of the little girls at the hospital started calling me "Queenie" and a lot of my friends call me that now.
But I got my name b/c I so darn proud to be Southern girl born and raised in Georgia. Queen b/c of the whole pageant thing and Bride b/c ... well... duh!

Old Pageant Pic:

This little girl donated her winnings from the pageant to the Queen for A Day THis is me giving her a kiss and accepting the check. How sweet is that?

Here are some pics from the last Queen for a Day program:

I actually have been wondering about your names! I always "see" PGA for some reason.... yes FH love to golf! HA HA!! :)

Your FH would love to be from my hometown of Augusta, then! LOL

Lauren, that is such an awesome cause! Hannah and Justice both look so cute! I used to help with children who had been abused, in fact some of them had even been used for child "movies." With school keeping me busy, I really miss being able to work with them.

EarlyBird
11-06-2007, 01:47 PM
i usually use my first name for everything but vanamarie wasnt working for some reason.

Earlybird was from the phrase early bird gets the worm haha it was on an account that i was engaged in may and we knew we wanted to wait till 09 to get married - My dad always says "your so opposite from your brother, you never proscrastinate on anything" and i aways respond "early bird gets the worm dad"

Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August, which is the month of my birthday (8/5) and the month of our wedding (8/2.)

Also, Jon gave me a peridot promise ring a few years ago and I still love it, even after getting my diamond engagement ring. I wear my peridot on my right hand.

Smashingpennies
11-06-2007, 03:21 PM
WHAT A GREAT THREAD!!!!

Mine is also one of the obvious ones I am sure. Smashing Pennies is the name of my business, but I also collect them.

WBandME, I thought it was because you liked the shows on that TV station.
s_r_d3, how cute, I also have three kids and they are also all girls.

snu
11-06-2007, 05:49 PM
Mine is a nickname created by my fh.

He calls me "snu" all the time....short for "snuggles" since snuggling is one of our fave things to do!

FLAteacher
11-06-2007, 05:53 PM
Mine is pretty obvious but just in case.....I live in Central Florida and I am a teacher.
User name is FLA=Florida teacher=my occupation
:)

septemberbride06
11-07-2007, 09:36 AM

couldn't think of anything "unique" at the time so I figured I'd do the month we got married and I was a bride, so....hahaha..I'm a nerd :geek:

Blusher
01-29-2008, 07:15 PM
Like your user name? is it just random or a nickname...Mine was completely random...I just found out what a blusher was (veil thingy over your face) and thought it was a cute word..

What about yous:kitty:???

SerendipityCrafts
01-29-2008, 07:20 PM
Hugh and I re-met quite by accident online, 23 years after we had last seen each other. He called it Serendipity.

When we got together and I roped him into making crafts with me (something I had been doing for 12 years before that) it became our biz name :)

ETA - I thought this sounded familiar; merged with previous topic thread ;)

uptowngirl
01-29-2008, 11:52 PM
Mine is based on my business name too - Uptown Images. We live in a part of town called Uptown Village so that is how I picked the name for my business...

If I hadn't done Uptowngirl it would have been Sarahmoto, which is FH's nickname for me - usually he just calls me Moto. Not really sure where that one came from! :whoa:

BingBot
01-30-2008, 12:02 AM
FH and I have some pretty funny nicknames we have for eachother and my screen name is one of them! It's also sometimes shortened to just Bot. I could write a huge list of all of our different nicknames, some have stuck around longer than others.

NOTKT
01-30-2008, 12:10 AM
NOTKT is actually a cute story. I just bought my motorcycle see here (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f145/wukatie2000/bike%20pics/800x600.jpg) and my FH and I were trying to think of a personal license plate, which is 5 characters. Well I reminded him that I used to get pulled over for speeding a lot. The year before I bought my bike, I was pulled over 3x in one year, March, June, and October! Anyway, we sat there, thinking and thinking.

My FH said N-O-T-K-T and I thought he meant an abbreviation for no ticket. So when I got pulled over I would not get a ticket! He started laughing because he meant Not Katie (my first name), so when I got pulled over I was "Not Katie"

Either way, I just don't want to pay for any more speeding tickets!

kgvettegirl
01-30-2008, 07:19 PM
Lets see KG for our little town we live in. Vette for baby our 2004 Corvette. RC keeps reminding me that it is mine now too! And girl well duh.

dawsmi
01-30-2008, 07:56 PM
Mine is the first 3 letters of my first and last name Dawn Smith hence dawsmi! I have used it for as long as I can remember!!

FFC
01-31-2008, 10:47 AM
My screenname is actually abbreviated from my usual screenname on my other forums. I'm FordFreakChik, or Ford4x4Chik27.... those are me if you ever see me on 4x4 sites :D

RevMatty
01-31-2008, 11:34 AM
Mine is an easy one. RevMatty. Rev for Reverend, and Matty for the nickname I only entrust with family and close friends.

Parhelion
01-31-2008, 11:41 AM
Mine's the scientific name for a sundog.

http://forums.onewed.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2007&stc=1&d=1201801221

I'm a nut for atmospheric optics. :)

sweetvenus
01-31-2008, 11:51 AM
Mine dates back eight years ago when I was trying to think of a new aim screen name to keep my ex bf's friends from harassing me, lol. I had just taken a quiz entitled "What goddess are you?" and got Venus, so I just stuck sweet on the front of it, and voila! I've been using it ever since for usernames, my personal website (sweetvenus.org), pretty much everything.

august8bride
01-31-2008, 01:37 PM
Mine is obvious. I'm a bride that is getting married on august 8th.

Princess Laurali.... a nickname my fh calls me. My name is Laura, not sure why he added the "li". lol!!!!

Ok, I know this thread is old, but I just ran across it and it amused me. 2dBride is "second bride." It refers both to the fact that this was my second wedding, and to the fact that it was a same-sex wedding, so there were two brides.

This is a good thread to bring back! A lot of us missed it the first time.

I use this screenname for mostly everything - Gwen because it's my name and Shack because I used to work at a place called the Java Shack in Virginia and I was always in the middle of the action there. So I because gwenshack. Funny story about that, because my e-mail address also contains gwenshack my MIL thought my last name was Shack until very shortly before the wedding. :boggle:

OMG i wasn't even sure if Gwen was your real name.

Mine's one of the obvious ones. I've been Mitch for years in real life as well as online. The only people who call me by my real name (Michelle) are Family and there's none of them left. And the Tax Man. And i'm hiding from him LMAO

DH calls me Mitch. And only uses my real name when i'm really really winding him up. ;)

Docsgirl
04-12-2010, 05:05 AM
My DH is a corpsman in the Navy and he's referred to as "Doc" or "Doc Micky" by the guys he deploys with.

So, he's a Doc and I'm his girl. ;)

SkippyNXC
04-12-2010, 05:34 AM
Well, Skippy is the only nickname any of my friends has EVER given me... and i always wanted a "cool" nickname LOL

Skippy came from my friend and I watching a Michael Jackson video and we had seen it 1,000 times and I made a comment about the rabbit animation in it and called it Skippy and she looked at me like i had 1,000 heads... i said ya know Skippy, the rabbit thing.... it's name wasn't skippy... it was actually like Spike i think... sooo from then on she called me Skippy as a joke but it kinda just stuck! :P

And NXC is my initials... which kinda makes it hard to like hide who i am on these boards from fam or friends who know my middle name.... not many ppl have those initials... i'd honestly be willing to bet serious cash there's no one else in the world w/my exact name...

Century Guy
04-12-2010, 03:57 PM
Well, CenturyGuy is a combo of two things.

1) You know me by the websites that I help run/maintain...PrintMyThing and PrintMyRibbon. The company name that actually is BEHIND those websites is called "Century Marketing." So, there's the "Century" part of my name.

2) I'm a guy. And there's precious few of us here at the OneWed Forums, so I thought I'd point that fact out. :)

amisteratwisterandme
04-12-2010, 04:41 PM
Mine is A Mister (FH) A Twister (My furbaby) And Me. This was before I got my second dog, but his nickname is Stinky cuz he's such a little Sh**, and I don't think that would fit in there anyways. :laugh2:

WBandMe
04-12-2010, 04:53 PM
My name is somewhere in here already, but for an update, DH's initials are WB. When I joined the board I didn't want to use one of my usual usernames so I asked him for an idea, and WB and me is what he suggested.

sandy03
04-12-2010, 04:59 PM
Mine is pretty obvious - Sandy is my name and 03 is the year I graduated high school.

The only other username I had ever had was "tubagirl" because I played tuba in the school band, but since I hadn't actually been a tuba girl in at least 5 years, it didn't seem to quite fit.

amjhdrummer
04-12-2010, 05:43 PM
My initials are "amjh" - I have 2 middle names... My parents gave my grandparents (from both sides) the power to decide my middle name, and they both hated each other and couldn't decide... So I got both!

drummer- I'm a drummer :) several years back in middle school "drummergirl" and things similar were taken- but not amjhdrummer.

I have 2 other variations- amjh08, and drummeramjh08- because I graduated in '08.

And now on the xbox a few months ago when I got my own gamertag I started "AgentsWifey" because my FH gamertag is Agent 00690069... and all of that plus wifey was too long!

:)

dodgercpkl
04-12-2010, 05:46 PM
My nickname is one I've been using online for as long as I've BEEN online.... lol and that's been since like '93 I think. I'm a huge dodgers fan and have been all my life. I'm such a fan that when I found a Dodger's cabbage patch kid doll years ago, I bought it and started taking it to games with me. Now I'm one of those NOTICEABLE fans in that not only did I carry a doll with me to games, but I painted my face, wore blue glittery wigs, had pom-poms and various other things that marked me as a DEFINITE Dodgers fan. lol For a long time I was going to so many games, both home and away, and getting autographs (yes I'm a geek and I love it!) that the players actually knew me. Eric Karros and Mike Piazza were heard by a couple of usher friends of mine at Dodger Stadium to refer to me as the Cabbage Patch Kid Lady (or shorted CPKL) and so I came up with the nickname of dodgercpkl and have used it for pretty much everything since then! :)

Haylie
04-12-2010, 06:26 PM
Mine is one of those super obvious ones... it's my name! I started using it on craftster.org and have started using it everywhere since my spelling is still fairly uncommon. The other one I sometimes use is SoldiersSilly, since my FH is in the army and our nickname for each other is "silly"

Spatch4Officers
04-12-2010, 10:22 PM
Mine means that I am a dispatcher for officers. Kinda obvious but not obvious if you don't deal with emergency services.

The Proper Wedding
04-13-2010, 09:53 AM
lol like the warrior princess?? nah

it's actually Xaviera (X-a-v-air-a)

Wow that is such a pretty and unique name! I love it!

I've already mentioned what my name means in my intro I think. But I'll mention it again for anyone who's missed it.

The Proper Wedding is literally the "name" of our wedding. Proper is my last name to be. It's pronounced Pr-oh-per, although anyone who has never come in contact with anyone named Proper always pronounces it the way we use the word in English.

I figured that would be better accepted here on the boards than the name I usually use. My screen name for just about everything else is Weewee. There's a story behind that, it's not perverted I promise! My name is Whitney and my little cousin was just starting to talk, and when you'd tell him to say "Whitney" it would come out as Weewee. I was in grade school at the time. Someone found out and started calling me that, I HATED it back then. But after so many people calling me that I got used to it, then started telling people to call me that after a while. In high school another one of my little cousins did the same thing, started pronouncing my name as "Weewee", so it REALLY stuck then. But I figured I wouldn't use that because I thought too many people might take offense to it here if they didn't know the story behind it!! hehe So The Proper Wedding it is! :)

I could have sworn I already posted this.

Mine comes from a poem that I really love, about love:

"I met in the street a very poor young man who was in love. His coat was worn, his hat was old, his cloak was out at the elbows. The water passed through his shoes, and the stars through his soul." :luxlove:

04-13-2010, 12:08 PM
I thought I had posted mine too but I guess not!

Savepaws is just a name I started using back when I was more involved in animal rescue. I guess I thought savepaws was cuter than something like savedogs.

FutureMrsDM - I was the Future Mrs. DM (DH's initials), now I AM Mrs. DM! :luxlove:. We actually had the same English teacher (even though we were in different grades/class levels) in high school and he knew we were dating. He was one of those super cool teachers. Anyways, he'd always refer to DH as DM, and it kinda stuck with us :)

ChristineLS
04-13-2010, 12:49 PM
Could have swore I replied. Christine is my first name, L is the first letter of my middle name, S is the first letter of my surname. I use my middle name because there are something like 33 Christine S--------'s in the US, and the one in my hometown is a politician so I use my name to keep our records separate. All my usernames are some variant on ChristineS--------. I kept my surname when I got married - it is important to me to have the same name throughout my life.
