I dont know how to start this off other than saying the day was amazing and beyond belief. From the time I woke up in the morning until the time we got home from the Honeymoon, it was all a dream. We had minor slip-ups along the way but nothing was too major and it all worked out fine. I had an amazing gropu of girls that were with me every step of the way (even helped me pack for the honeymoon when I was frantic the night before) and my grandmother whom I credit most of hard work to.
I'll start off with the rehearsal and the day before.
Jonathan and I didnt see much of eachother because we were both so incredibly busy. I was trying to get my last minute things done and so was he. I got my nails done with all of my girls. We used the same nail salon I had been going to for years so they opened up early for all of us so it was like a private party. They also charged me nothing for getting my nails done eventhough with all the things I got it totaled up to about $75. After all of that I ran some errands and headed over to the church for rehearsal. I do have to say that our rehearsal was a nightmare. The church bazzaar was going on at the same time and the wedding coordinator for the church had none of our information on file (the old wedding coordinator skipped town with the books). It was chaos but somehow it worked out. We then headed over to Jonathan's parents for traditional cuban dinner. It was a hit and everyone was so pleased with the meal. They surprised us with a Huge cake and ice cream. After everything was over Jonathan told me to go pack for the honeymoon (we had received our luggage as a gift that day. His grandmother told us it was coming so we waited for it). I had my mini-meltdown at that point because I was stressed, tired, and really overwhelmed. My maid of honor and one of my bridesmaids met me at my house and we packed everything up in about 30 minutes so I could get a good night sleep. I ended up heading over to my grandma's and sleeping there. I slept the best that I had in days thankfully.
The day of the wedding:
I was supposed be up by 7:30am to have grandma get my hair done early, but apparently that didnt happen... They woke me a 8:45 and caused me to panick a little... My maid of honor showed up to get the coloring books for the reception to have them copied. My dad ended up bringing me my favorite breakfast from Roy Rodgers so I definitely got to eat. My mom forgot to have her dress tacked to I ended up altering my mom's dress during breakfast. My hair finally got done (it only took 90 minutes) and all I had to do was get ready to go to the church. We headed over at about 1pm and started decorating the church. When I get pictures I will show you the detail that went into decorating this church. We ended up forgetting the honor candle for those who had passed away so the church found us a little candle which worked out really well. We found out that the rose petals had been sent to the reception site so my dad ran over there to get them so we could decorate. My mom ended up cutting up my toss boquet because she thought it was something else. Other than that, everything before the ceremony went great.
My bridesmaids all went in and bought a sandwich platter, chips, a fruit platter and cookies as well as sodas and water to have before the ceremony so we were all making sure we ate. I found out from the pastor that the church had just had a new digital sign put up a few weeks before and they had put on the sign "Congratualtions Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Clark October 20, 2007" and it was to stay up there for the next couple of days. My church is at one of the busiest intersections in the whole city so everyone got to see it! I got my make-up done, which I think looked amazing! I didnt start crying until I went to put my dress on. I dont know what it was, but the flood gates opened and I was a mess. After that I cried a few more times but nothing too bad. From the time the photographer showed up until the time I walked down the aisle went by so quickly.
The Ceremony:
I cant describe how beautiful the ceremony was. There was so much music and it was so beautiful. I made it half-way down the aisle before crying again, but I held back most of it because I didnt want to ruin my make-up. The comments that people make when you are walking down the aisle are so powerful. I made it through the vows and the rings without crying, although Jonathan had a tear or two during the vows. I really started crying during the Lord's Prayer that one of my friends sang for us. I then cried after the unity candle when another one of my friends sang Ave Maria. Our trip back up the aisle was great! Everyone was clapping, cheering, and smiling at us! Our pictures took forever, but I think we got a lot of good pictures. Our photographer said from the whole night they got over 2500 pictures and at least 1100 of them are ones that are album quality... there were only about 150-200 that didnt come out very good.
I had a hard time getting in the limo because my dress was a little bigger than I thought it was. We found out on the ride to the reception that my parent's had gone to the house to let the dog out and set off the alarm and didnt know how to turn it off. Needless to say it delayed their arrival to the reception but it worked out.
The Reception:
I had a blast! We were rushed into the suite upstairs where there were drinks and appetizers waiting for us. I had my dress bustled and the girls helped me get freshened up. We sat around until the cocktail hour was over just having a good time. Finally the D.J. came up and wanted to make sure we were ready for the introductions. It seemed like forever standing out there but it was great! We went right into our first dance which we had changed the song to "Unforgettable" the day before the wedding, it was nice to dance to a real classic. We went right into dinner after that. The food was amazing. Jonathan got french fries with his food and everyone thought that was cute. The staff made sure that we were taken care of. A word of advice to any bride... drink lots of water. I was so thirsty by the time I got to the reception it was rediculous... After dinner we had our father/daughter dance which I surprised my dad with and Jonathan and his mom had their dance. We schmoozed a little bit with the guests but we ended up spending most of our time on the dance floor. The D.J. was spectacular and made sure the dance floor was packed all night. The cake was absolutely a dream and boquet and garter tosses went really well. I had my "last dance" with one of my good friends from high school and then the D.J. surprised Jonathan and I with a real last dance for him and I. I dont know how he knew but I was torn between "Unforgettable" and "At Last" for our first dance... our last dance was "At Last" which made me really happy. We exited with people cheering and screaming and waving sparklers in the air. They all had a blast and it was so pretty... not to mention some people were a little intoxicated at that point.
Everything was beautiful and I couldnt have asked for a better wedding day. Sorry this was so long but I wanted to touch on everything. I'll post some things about the honeymoon (including the funny story about the wedding night) at a later time. I also have some non-pro pics to post but they have to be loaded up so I'll try to get to that soon.
