Brad's Bride in 08

Our wedding is June 7, 2008, I have been told that it is custom to send out invites 6-8 weeks before. So I plan to send them out in April. When would be a good time to request the RSVP's to be back. I was thinking May 1st. We have a friend of the family catering for us, so it wont be hard to get up with her to tell her the total count. When did you send out your invites and when did you request your RSVP to be back?

I'd wait no later then 2 weeks prior to the big day to request a RSVP.
This way you have plenty of time to contact your cater and they have plenty of time to order a "truck load" of food.

Yep, I usually tell people to set the RSVP deadline to 2-3 weeks prior :)

It also depends on when you have to give a count to your place!

For example, my wedding is 12/30, but I have to give my final count in November, so mine are due to me over a full month before the wedding.

We're getting married a week before you are....and we're asking to get ours back by May 1st, too. I think it's a good date to set for rsvps. :frogg:

Our caterer said she figures the head count for food by doubling the number of invites and then taking 60% of that. Just a suggestion for a rough guideline before the RSVPs are returned.

I read that you usually ask to have the rsvp's back 2-3 weeks before the wedding.

Wait I'm horribly confused. By that calculation you get more people than you invite? Or does inviting a family only count as 1 invite instead of the number of people in the family?

Our wedding was May 12th, We had the invites out by March 12ish and we requested them back April 12th... A month before, but people were still sending them in a week before!

I thought RSVP's have an exact number of people listed in the invitation card. So I also would like to know the answer for firespirit's question.

Regarding sending and returning of RSVP's, for sending I would have sent it 2 months before the wedding date. This would give the invitees a lot of time to respond. And I'm thinking that RSVP's should be returned no later than 2 weeks before the wedding.
