So these two items together would have cost close to $500!!! So I got online and got the materials for the necklace and earrings for under $30!!!!
Now my BMs jewelry is going to be graduated pearl necklaces, and drop pearl earrings. The earrings are simple and classy... 1 pearl on a piece of gold chain.. make sense?? Well I ordered... the materials for my jewelry, BMs jewelry, and components for my crystal stems for my bouquet that I am making all for under $65!!! I am so excited... now just the wait for the materials and trying to find time to make them... but don't worry I am going to post pictures!!! I can't wait!!!

I have wanted this set before I came to OW, but wasn't into paying close to $500 for the set. So I came to OW and was looking at DIYers, and then neeb posted it and it got me thinking again about the set. So I went to firemountaingems.com and ordered the supplies for it... granted its not going to be real swarvoski crystals, but I went with glass beads that are very close in resembelance of the swarvoski's and a whole of a lot cheaper for more beads... i'm soooo excited....:whoohoo:

OK so I am currently working on my BM jewelry.... I am having a problem what is the standard length of necklaces? I do have some plus-size ladies in my party and wanted to just make it easier on me and do them all the same length... would 22inches be too big or how bout 20inches?
I am stuck right now on what to do... ugh...
Now after getting some things started I am going to need to order more and get a couple other materials... does anyone find this when they do their DIY?

I think 15" is the standard for a lot of necklaces and then I've seen 3" extenders for sale. I wouldn't go too much bigger than 20" (maybe even closer to 18" cause you don't want the necklace to be hiding under the dress. And yes I found I needed new material. :D

Personally I think that 15-18 inches is too small. I am plus sized and I know that 18 may be too short for some plus sized woman. Measure their necks. 20 inches might work. I lot of the time find that I need something that I do not have when working with my Swarovski's. Don't get discouraged though, if you continue to make jewelry after your wedding you won't have this problem because you get to know from experience. I love to make jewelry because it take all of 15 minutes to make a new necklace to go with the new shirt that you just bought.

Yeah, measureing might be the best idea. I was just thinking that style neclace it's really closer to a choker (I realized that 15" is probably closer to a choker standard). So she'll want to keep in mind that the large crystal drop should be hanging a couple inches above the dress.
ETA: But with the right kind of clasp the necklace can always be shortened and have a tail too. I'm one of those people that likes to wear my necklaces higher, since most of them tend to have the charm that ends up falling right under my tanktop line (if that makes sense), then no one can see it cause it's hidden by my shirt.

Yeah. If she used a lobster claw clasp and added jump rings to the other side then the girls could extend the necklace if they needed to.

Thanks... I started doing a 17" necklace and got half the pearls on it and realized that well it barely fit my neck, so I think I am going to make it 20" and an extender on it just incase... right now my DIY are stalled due to not thinking through the earring materials... and need to get extenders, and more pearls....
