OK so i take it you still have to buy the sand then??? Well take the vases and fill them with water and measure it out that way. Just take a 4cup measuring cup and start pouring but remember how much you are putting in there... if you don't want sand all the way to the top then don't put water all the way to the top.... or you could just fill the vases to the level you want the sand and then pour that into a measuring cup to calculate it that way...
1cup water will be just the same as 1cup sand.... and then once you figured this out and go out and buy sand

I went to a wedding recently and they didn't use very much sand. The container looked HUGE/empty...

Most suppliers sell sand in 1 lb allotments, and you can try ebay if you're just going with black & white. I ended up using 2 distributors to get the color of blue I wanted. Here are pics from my sand ceremony - oh, and each of the pour containers were about 12 oz.

We got our sand from here (thanks to the wonderful woman on this fantastic board) http://www.moonglowcandles.net/wedding_sand.htm?gclid=CJqIovG1po8CFRssawodLVNZSQ
We actually got the 3 piece Status Vase set. It worked great for us because I wanted it to be sealed when we got done. There was quite a bit left over and here is a pic of what I did with it. This wine bottle was from our honeymoon.

Try this.....
Fill vase half full of sand, seal it with wax. Fill with water, and place flowers in it.
I had a couple that did that and it looked beautiful. Next time I swing in to check up on them, I'll have to remembr to get a photo of it.
I ordered one bag of each color...lt blue, navy, and white. We used the navy for Bruce, lt blue for me, and white to symbolize God's part in our marriage. It turned out really neat. HTH

Got them from the moon place...LOVED THEM! Although I did not need to spend the $10.00 on the samples...their colors are perfect, they look just like the pics on the internet.
I ordered 4 lbs of sand today and it shipped TODAY!! Crazy huh?!?!?
I got 1 lb of orange for me, 1 lb of chocolate brown for FH, and 2 lbs of white for the kids!
I love the glitter in the sand.
Thanks for your help Gerri!! Great sand place!
You are so very welcome! I was very impressed with the way the sand glittered, too. And they had FANTASTIC customer service for us. We actually live about 3 hours away from these people, so we got it the next day. Bruce loved it too!

I'm so glad to see that you all were impressed with their service. I found them yesterday while I was looking for grape-colored sand. It looks like it is a perfect match for what I'm looking for. Now, I just have to decide on a gold sand.

I don't understand why there are 3 different colour of sands? In fact, I don't know much about a sand ceremony. Please would someone explain it to me.
Thanks!

Sand ceremony is in place of a unity candle...

We are doing three colors, because my FH has kids...so I will get a color, he will get one and they will get another!
We did 3 colors...light blue for me, navy for Bruce and white to symbolize God's part in our life. The colors they have are just beautiful. There is some sparkle to it...and it looks really neat when you're done.
