So I was looking at maybe using some wax seals on our invites (inspired by Tango's little project!) and I stumbled across this on the web.

How handy is that?! Glue gun wax seals :D No heating and rubbing it on each one. :geek: What can I say, I am easily thrilled.

OOOoooohhh... a wax stamp would go so well with the design of my invites and the color of the red wax would be gorgeous and a themed stamp... good job Measha!!!!

I do suggest the glue gun wax rather than the candle wax stuff.

Normally, the stuff you put in a glue gun isn't just WAX...it's more like a rubbery substance. Wax tends to crack in the mail - the rubbery stuff will give a little and won't break. And it doesn't look any different.

I am very interested in doing this! Helllooo Victorian theme...too perfect. I've looked into it before, but not too much. I was concerned about the mailing process. I guess I'll look into the glue gun wax.

Tango the "give" in most sealing wax, tends to be because it's made of pure beesewax. Which is not as brittle as say...parafin. According to the site they don't put additives in theirs :)

(Spelling <.< what is that?)

I like those, and an inexpensive way to "dress up" your invites. But a question-if you are doing an initial do you use your FH last name or your last name now (since traditionally the brides parents are inviting)?

I'd say it all depends. Personally if going the route of last initial I'd go with whatever you two are going to go by. Which would be a tough one for FH and I to figure out as we're either each taking both names, or he's taking mine.

I was more a fan of the different shapes and personalized choices. The square "LOVE" one was pretty, as well as the Victorian heart...in my opinion.

I'd DEFINITELY do the glue gun ones. FH and I did wax seals in our invitations, but they were the candlestick ones. They hopefully won't crack in the mail, though, because they're specifically for wax seals, so they're not paraffin.

They took FOREVER though. I'm not entirely sure they were worth it. They look amazing, but still. I spent several evenings doing nothing but wax seals.

We used what will be our new last name initial. I knew it was probably technically against etiquette, but I'm excited about my new last name, so screw it :)

I was in Michaels today and got a nice "initial" seal for just $4.99. I plan to order the wax from that site, they didnt have it at Hobby Lobby, michaels, or Joann Fabrics!

That's so neat! I think I might keep my last name, and my last name (Deutsch) is definitely more fun than his (Brown). I asked him if he'd consider taking my name then, but nope!

We used wax seals for a Christmas Banquet I helped with, they looked AMAZING. I was going to use them for my invites, but I just ordered them pre-made instead. We used the glue gun method and it was super easy...you will need two people to do it though, one to use the glue gun, one to press the stamp -- it makes it easier this way

Wish I had known about the glue gun seals for our wedding! My hubby (believe it or not!) wanted to do the wax seal, so I got the initial stamp and wax, etc., at Micheals for it. They turned out beautiful - but it was a LOT of work, and quite a few of them cracked, etc. May have been user error - but I think the glue gun idea would probably have worked a lot better!

Does anyone know if this will cost extra on the postage? I wasnt sure how much extra weight it would add. Thought maybe someone who has done them may know..........

It didn't cost me anything extra.
