Ok here's my idea :
You could make them a little stand so they won't be standing directly on the cake, and glue miniature fall leaves to the stand.
You can also personalize the figurines (if you want to and if they aren't valuable but the way you present them it doesn't sound like they are porcelain or anything) by VERY carefully painting their hair, or eye color, to match you and FH's. Do this only if you're fairly confident.

i would add stuff to the dress to make it look more detailed like that figurine. Also, what if you bought a monogram letter and put it behind the two figures. That way, the main focus is the monogram and not the figurine (the monogram can be purchased very cheap on ebay, or online, or you can make it- SEE SOUTHERQUEENBEE'S JOURNAL- SHE MADE A CUTE ONE!

What does your cake look like?? It should "match" your cake style & look good perched up there. :)
If your cake is already really busy, maybe you don't have to do much to them. I like the ideas that were already suggested.
I'd paint her bouquet in fall colors and then maybe pain the layer of her underskirt you can see sticking out.

my mum is making the cake. i think it will be plain white icing and the decoration will be leaves i put on it.
i dont really like those monogram letter thingies.. the only good thing about my topper is that her veil is real tulle and sparkly.
maybe ill try wrapping them in a leaf. thanks for all your answers!! let me know if u have more ideas

i did it. i made them stand on a little round plastic lid and glued some gold small pebbles to it and the bottom of them. i glued some sort of fabric leaves behing them and wheat like stuff. anyway i cant explain ill post pics later that my mother took. it looks amazing! thanks for helping!

That looks great.
I'm still struggling with a cake top too.
NO idea, I'm making the cake, since that's what I do as a side business, but I just don't know what to do for an outside fall wedding.
I dont' want a bride and groom, or the monograms.
And he doesn't want flowers or leaves or fruit.
But he wants 'something'.
We've been tossing around a small water fountain, battery operated, and lighted, possibly of and outdoor sceen with animals or something.
Thinking it may be too heavy, but have to find one first.
I really love yours though, and if I can't find what I want, I just may use your idea, minus the bride and groom.
