View Full Version : Invitation =/= Announcement

I plan on sending out both. Invitations to the guests I know will likely come, or at least will try if they can. And announcements to the older family and friends that we haven't been in touch with as much, but will still want to at least -know- that we got married and send cards and such.
So my question is how do (or would) you change the wording between the two? I don't want the announcement to sound like an invite, but at the same time I don't want it to come across awkward and least of all rude.:purplex:
Yes, I worry a lot. :worry: Yes, I am a wedding etiquette "noob". So anyone that has an example announcement I'd appreciate it!

Measha - I believe announcements only go out after the wedding - announcing that you have been married - so no need to worry about misunderstandings and extra guests. :)

Not so much worried about the "extra guest" thing at all. And I planned on sending them later than invites, yup. Just wondering about wording.

Sorry Measha - I didnt read your question very well. There are some variations here (depends whether you are announcing, or your parents are etc.) Good luck!

Thank you :) I played around with some of them, inserting info to see how they would sound. The typical bare bones one tends to be like so, I've found:
Telitha Aann (Insert Last Name)
and
Jonathan Charles (Insert Last Name)
are happy to announce
their marriage
on Thursday the 27th of November
2008
LOCATION
CITY, STATE
I could always spice it up a little, or something. Will give me something to fiddle with. Ooh, I really liked this one! The "now reside at" will be perfect so they can send cards *smirk*

I could always get creative and make it our own, but I really needed that starter template. Somehow I was just drawing a blank for the longest time with this. Never have really looked closely at any announcements before, heh. *blush*

What if you already live with the person... could you still put "the mr. and mrs. reside at..."?

I am Star, because a lot of our older family members and such don't know our address. And if they want to send cards or stuff it'll be handy :) Not everyone looks at the return address or remembers to save the envelope to do so!
And I might just take out the "now" from then sentence. So that it reads "Jonathan and Telitha reside at...."
Randomly, I just noticed this is like the only thread my FULL name is in haha!

might be a little much here but will there be anyone that is offended they were not invited..
We are not doing announcements but we are going to send out a "OUR ADDRESS" things- it will just be something like Mr. and Mrs. Ross (OMG I CANT WAIT!!!) reside at blah blah- we will probably move by then but we have lived together.
