I did not come up with this idea myself! Samantha01 had a similar thread with bags she made for her girls. I had some ideas already and then saw what she had done and went from there. I dont have this many bridesmaids but i made some for other people that are helping. For bridesmaids I am putting flip flops, monogramed koozies (too cute) and their jewelry in them. For christmas gifts i am planning to do some aprons and diaper bags as well. DIY projects are addictive!!!!

and the rest.........I made them all different, tried to pick things I thought they would like. I considered doing some fun fringe trim but just didnt, I may try that on some others. Some of them turned out better than others. Of course as with many of these projects, you learn as you go along!

Your bags are really cute. May I ask where you got the totes from?

I got the bags at Hobby Lobby they were really inexpensive (normally $6.99 for 3 and on sale for 50% off) I glued everything on. Fabritac glue worked the best (it wasnt stiff but was very sticky and flexible) Letters are from Hobby Lobby as well, they had other types too and they ironed on (easy). Walmart had a great selected of ribbon and it was cheapest by the yard (around 50cents a yard) It cost about $20 to do the first 6 bags. :frogg:

Those look great! Did you use their favorite colors for each bag?

Very, very cute!! I did totes for my girls too. They totally loved them. They really loved the poem that was included..I changed it a little to fit them. I don't have a pic though, I don't think.

No the letters are iron-on. They really stuck well too, I was worried about that but they worked well!

Well, you dont have to make the actual bag, they sell them. At Hobby Lobby they had white and ivory. And they have other types of bags too and one that would make a great diaper bag so I am going to do that for a friend whose having a baby.

if you don't want to make them, I ordered some from justembroideredtotes.com. They ended up being awesome, and everyone liked them. More expensive than making yourself, but not too bad, IMHO.

What was the poem you put into them? Do you recall yours too Ger? Just curious. What all did each of you include inside the bag?

Those came out awesome! I am tempted to try to make one now, but I don't have a hobby lobby in my area. Do you think walmart would have those cute iron on letters?

We dont have a michaels so I am not sure, but I would say so. Walmart may as well. Walmart has the Fabri-tac glue, which is awesome.

Another cute idea, my friend is getting married Dec22 and she is doing these in green and red, too cute!

See, what I want to do is a personalized tote for the bridesmaids and fill it will goodies. In order to do that I really can't get the fancy ones...it would cost way too much money unfortunately. So I am going to have to DIY them. Where is a good place to buy the plain totes and get the crafts to make them? We don't have a Hobby Lobby where I live. I would idealy like to go out to buy this kind of thing so I can see it in person.

I was at michaels and was pricing this out last night. I found meduim sized plain totes 7.99 for a 3 pack. The iron letters were 9.99 but you get a few of each letter. Then they have packs button, ribbons, rinestones for about 2.99-7.99 Hope this helps

That helps a lot! I think I'll visit it soon. I think I want to do a tote for each of them (4 girls) and either I'll do nicknames or initials...probably initials. Although one girl is engaged...wonder if I should do her current initials or new initials...

I was going to do my girls first names for the same reason because those dont change :)

The only reason I don't want to do first names...I don't think at least is I'm not sure if some of them might not want to advertise their names on the street. One of the girls is only 15.
