Hello everyone, I am new to this messageboard and am looking for some ideas for my wedding. I am a DIYer and plan to do a majority of my wedding that way. You all have some WONDERFUL and truly AMAZING ideas, and I just have no clue where to start. The date has not been set but it will be in the fall of next year. Here is what I have so far:
*chocolate and a soft yellow for the colors
*about 130 guests
*I would love a buffet (but I do not know the most cost-effective way to go about that, self-cater, culinary schools?)
*I want a unique favor that will not collect dust in someone's closet
*I want lots and lots of candles (love that romantic feel)
Please HELP!!! I want to get some ideas rolling. I am 4 months pregnant and am planning for the birth of our 1st baby, as well as trying to prepare for my first year of law school. (I know that's alot) Somebody just please tell me that it can be done and I won't go crazy!!! Thanks soooo much in advance.

I am here to tell you that you will not go crazy. I am in graduate school, working full time, going internship, planning a wedding and building a house. Obviously, i already WAS crazy or wouldnt have taken this on. No, I am kidding. Just try to enjoy it and then its not a hassle!:frogg:

Congrats!!

Your ideas so far sound wonderful.

What do you need more ideas on other than favors?

I gave out custom soaps for our wedding. They were in our wedding colors and shaped like hand fans & roses... in three different scents.

Ohh I've even seen chocolate and fruit combination soaps at craft fairs so I imagine they are making them themselves and you might be able to get a recipie for a chocolate banana scented soap. And make those brown and yellow.

Browse the forums some and you'll get a LOT of ideas. These ladies are the bomb!

There are topics on most of the things you asked questions about, and more to boot. As far as candles go I recommend the little LED light ones, you can get them online for fairly cheap, don't need someone to go around relighting them, and no one will catch anything on fire, haha.

For favors things thar are edible, or in other ways usable tend to be the best especially DIY in my opinion. I'm looking at doing some type of soap (unless I change my mind, hehe) and using a cinnamon/carmel sticky bun scent in it that is to die for!

I'm also getting married in the fall of next year. On Thanksgiving of 2008 actualy :D So we are doing buffet style food (I decided over lighter ideas) and since the reception will be like Thanksgiving for all the family and close friends coming we'll be getting FMIL and Aunts, and grandma to make turkeys, and big things of mashed potatoes, etc.

Now that I've rambled ...*scurries off* welcome to Onewed and dont' be shy!
