This is the hard journal i never visit cuz my weight and I have some issues hehe!
I was always a twiggy little thing and when i was 16 i almost died from a breathing problem. I went onto steroid meds for the breathing and by time i got out of the hospital had gained 15 pounds- then no matter what i did , i gained like 5 pounds a month!!
Im only 4 foot 9 so this is difficult for me- especially since my eating habits never changed or anything. When i was 18 the weight just came off again and i was tiny- but then all of the sudden, i blew up- Its hard to realize that i have to WORK HARD to get this off- the thing is, im not a big eater. and i love GOOD FOOD (like food that is good for you, veggies etc!!)
This weight is not coming off by cutting calories. they are cut already to a very minimal amount each day!! I have tried to take the dogs for longer walks everyday and i figure i will start slowly, but FH pointed out maybe im taking in empty calories if i dont think im eating enough- soooo im going to try to keep track of everything in here. Im going to go through the day of my eating from yesterday (which is today for me cuz i havent slept!)

Drinks
4 Bottles of Water
"Lunch/Dinner" - We were only up a couple hours - ate at 4:00p
1 Boneless pork chop, Shake and Bake
Green Beans
Steamed Zuchinni and Steamed squash
Snack
60 Calorie Fudgsicle
"Snack/Dinner" 8:30P
Steamed zuchinni and steamed squash
6 Mini Rice cake chocolate Snacks
(equals 100 calories)
As you can tell, there is no way that equals OVER 1200 calories a day!!
Exercise
3 long walks (consist of around 15 minutes each time)
I was born prematurely and only weighed 2 pounds. Over the next several years of my life I had a lot of health problems. The summer before I went into 2nd grade I had to start taking steroids and things would never be the same! I went up 6 dress sizes that summer. I stayed a big girl until I was a senior in high school. It really sucks how bad that stuff messes with your body.
Hopefully through tracking your food you can come to some sort of conclusion as to why you can't seem to lose weight. Have you had your thyroid checked and all that good stuff?

Keely, i was 3 months premature too- thats why i had the breathing problems (repspitory is the last thing to develop ya kno) and thats when i went on the steroids.
Yah my body has never been the exact same, and i think it hit at a bad time with the change of my body at around that age, my metabolism slowed alot!

2 DOG WALKS TODAY EQUALING ABOUT 15 MINUTES EACH AND ALSO HOUSE CLEANING WITH SWEEPING, MOPPING AND ALL THAT GOOD STUFF-
ugh - so frustrating

Keely,
thanks for mentioning the thyroid, i did have it checked by my old doctor and when i asked him he laughed and said 'nope sorry, you must find a different excuse for your weight, if i had to guess your probably just naturally thick" So i went to a different doctor cuz obviously that one wasnt helping me at all - he laughed at things
but thyroid is such a serious thing and i was feeling very emotional and crazy for a while, and it runs in my family, so i was positive it was thyroid, Maybe ill have it checked again.
I've had my thyroid checked 3 times in the last 3 years, they keep saying that it's 'boarderline' to being underactive, but that's it
and I've taken steriods off and on over the last 5 years, I'm almost positive that is an issue with me too

Maybe your not eating enough, it sounds like you eat very little. If your body isnt getting enough calories you go in starvation mode and store fat.
Hey, good luck with everything. Sounds like eating less isn't working out so well, so I thought I'd point you to the post I made in this thread:

You should really be doing cardio for at least 30 min to burn fat. None of this 15 min walking the dog stuff. :nosey:

The way I understand it with cardio is so long as it amounts to 30 minutes a day--doesn't matter if you do it 2 minutes at a time. Eh, but don't hold me accountable for that--I'm certainly not big on the exercise :(

Hehe, yeah, that's a misconception. :)
At any one point in the day you have any amount of blood sugar in your system. Throughout the day, you'll keep eating, replenishing your blood sugar levels, and your body will keep digesting any complex carbs it has eaten (again, replenishing your blood sugar levels).
When you exercise, the goal is to first "use up" the available supply of sugar (carbs) currently in your body, and after that point your body will start to burn fat instead of carbs. If you wait long periods of time between exercise, then eating and digestion will replenish the available blood sugars in your body, and you will only continue to burn carbs rather than fat.
It's been found that the first ~30min of exercise is needed to burn through carbs, and after that point there's a change in your metabolism where your body will preferentially burn fat instead. So if you exercise for only 30 min, then you've only just begun to chip away at the fat in your body.

Man, that's a little disheartening. Here I've been thinking I'm some type of exercise goddess if I do it for 30 mins. Hehe, oh well. I need a kick in the pants.
WB - hehe, I think what happens is that people read they should be doing at least 30 min of cardio/day, the language is vague, and then they hope it really means a combined total :D

That's a good point too. Maybe it would also help EB if a goal of the weight loss also focused on increasing her metabolism. From what I understand, the best way to do this is by increasing your muscle:fat ratio. In other words, weight training.

I was reading what you ate in a day and it doesnt seem like you eat enough. I know that this sounds like it would be going against your diet, but eating too little can also make you not lose any weight. You have to keep you calories at a healthy level, and then your body will build up its metbalism(sp??) and exercise will help that too.
My FH is a HUGE health freak, and he just had me eating tons of turkey sandwiches, salads, eggs and wheat toast in the morning and taking vitamins every day, and i was at 139 and went down to 133 in less than a month. You also have to drink tons of water, which it looks like you do! I was just riding the bike at the rec center for 30 min and then running a mile and that was it.
It all depends on what you eat and how much you eat. Protien is really good for you, it helps you build muscle and muscle helps burn fat. Eating too little can get your body used to only burning off a certian amount of calories and then that messes up your metbalism. I hope this helps you, I am in the same spot, I cant seem to stick to anything long enough to see results. I KNOW i can lose weight it is just the commentment issues with me!! Good luck though and hope this makes since!
