It seems kinda big. Each letter is 3" tall.

You did such a good job. That is super cute! As far as it seeming big... How tall is your cake going to be compared to the letters?

No idea. We only need to serve 50-60 people and I don't think we were thinking about spending a lot. But if you get a top part it's usually about 8" right?

I dont think it seems too big. So-tell us how you make them!!!
I got the idea from Lauren (SouthernQueenBride) except I wanted to try to use a the font I had been using for our monogram so I ordered silver acrylic letters from Woodland Manufacturing and waited for those to come in. Then I used the swarovski hot fix crystals on the acrylic (you have to be very careful here because the heat melts the acrylic easily). However, some of them I didn't get the glue hot enough and have dicovered that fabri-tac works just fine (if not better). The heart they are attached to is just 110 lb paper and a peice of stiff cardboard in the back to keep it from flopping. I may redo this to make it shiny paper (like my STD's instead of dull paper).

What's the total height, from the bottom of the C to the top of the R? Our cake topper was around 8" tall, and it might have been a little big, but not too bad. I think as long as it's under 8" total, you'll be ok.

Very pretty BTW -- although I would change the heart, maybe different paper or paint it?

Thanks all!!!

thatgirljenn - I like the idea of attempting to sell these, but it would take way too much coordination with colors of the crystals and buying the letters and then putting them together.

I don't have it on me at the moment but I think it's about 5" tall and 6" wide. So it's really not too big, I think the other one I was making was just really small. Yeah ,the paper will be easy to replace, I'm going to see if the local store has the Stardream paper in a pink color (since I just need 1 sheet). I used the stardream paper for my STD's and it's hard to see in a picture but it's a metallic paper and it really gives that extra oomph.

I put it on new paper. Of course my camera only sort of shows it.... I think I might leave the crystals off the paper.

Awesome! Those were the best deal I could find on custom made letters. I think I was only a little annoyed with shipping charges, since they didn't give a choice to do cheaper shipping, but it still wasn't too bad.

Very pretty!!

I love the second version best. I like the idea of having your initials highlighted with the crystals rather than the paper. After all, you're the focus of the big day!

Right away when I saw it I thought of the monogram you used to have in your signature I think it was? Or somewhere else around here :D I think it's clever to incorporate it again and will be a unique (not to mention nicely priced) topper!

How is it going to stand on the cake? I want to make one but couldnt figure that part out!

I haven't fully figured out the stand, but here is a picture of the back with a temporary one. There's a couple of ways to attach some type of stand to the the cardboard on the back.
