Before you forward that next email ...

I have gotten so many hoax emails and MySpace buletins over the last few days, most of the time I just delete them. From those "new virus" warnings to the cancer patient that needs you forward the message *rolleyes*

Most all of these kinds of messages are bogus; I always check www.snopes.com (http://www.snopes.com) before I pass on anything like this. Otherwise it is wasting my time and the time of everyone else that reads it.

So I just wanted to pass this along to everyone ;)

And one more thing; if you are gonna forward something to everyone in your address book, do it as a BBC (blind carbon copy)! I don't want my email to be given out to everyone you know and I am sure most of them would feel the same.

I would also like to add -

Please don't forward chain emails because -

1. Nothing is going to run across your screen if you forward an email

2. No one is going to pay you money if you forward an email

3. Nothing bad is going to happen if you don't forward an email

Oh yes and most of the petitions that you send to me are for topics that have already been decided, judged, have past and are now mute.

I have a couple fwd freaks at work that don't even bothering looking to see who the fwd was even sent to!!! Now, if they would actually even use the Bcc I could understand but god knows that never happens!

I hate forwards!

Both of my parents have just recently gotten a bit more tech savy and gotten e-mail addresses. Mom's being pretty good, but oie Dad is getting forward happy. I try to tell him I almost NEVER read them!

I told my FMIL about snopes and now I don't get any junk email from her yay!!! She checks everything out before forwarding it along now. And even better she goes back and tells people that send her the emails if they are fake.

However, there are still other people that have sent me stuff like that, like the Leptospirosis one and I sent back 3 links demonstrating is was fake and she still didn't believe me, it was ridiculous!

Wow I haven't had a forward problem in about a year - I guess I was vocal enough about hating forwards and replying with a link to snopes :)
Almost forgot the silly things existed!
