Does anyone here celebrate Sweetest Day? FH and I normally celebrate pretty lavishly, and last year we got engaged on that day.
He got me tickets to see Nada Surf Friday, and two shows Sunday (well, one is at a store downtown). Anyway -- what can I get him? I suggested a hotel room so we can be touristy all day, he said no. :hothead:
Any suggestions? What are you getting F/DH?

I wondered if anyone actually celebrated that day. I have never celebrated it nor known anyone that did. I don't even know when it is unless I happen to see it on the calendar ;)
We normally don't do anything big. We just go out to dinner, which is always nice. :bblol:

I know it's a regional thing -- big in OH, Chicago, and some other places. When I was at school (went to a small private school in Central IL for a year and ended up in Phoenix) no one else knew what it was. lol
It's a made up Valentine's Day, but I love that it's not quite as frou frou, but still gives me an excuse to be lovey dovey.

we dont celebrate it...the first year we were together we brought each other something and never again
i am going to the cider mill (cornmaze) with my friends that night..
to me it is just another day and another day for the card/flower business to make money.

My FH and I celebrate sweetest day and not valentines day doe some weird reason, I guess cuz all the valentine's days we work. But we planned our wedding on sweetest day of 08!!!! SO we are excited, as for planning something special... usually dinner and just alot fo cuddling!!

Ok ... I have NEVER heard of this before and I have never seen it on a calendar.
What is it? When is it?

It's like a simpler Valentine's Day. More for people you're close to, less of a "lovers" holiday. Made up, yes. Fun? Yes. I love getting cards from my mom and sisters on Sweetest Day.
ETA: It's always the 3rd Sat in October.

Cool! I really like the fact that it's for everyone. I wonder how long it will take to travel to Canada because I have never seen a card for it here.

At the risk of sounding overwhelmingly ooey-gooey and Disneyesque, my FH and I don't celebrate Sweetest Day because, well, to be perfectly honest, *every* day is sweetest day around here!
You may all 'awwwww'.
The holiday still seems a bit too romantic to send my father a Sweetest Day card, though.

I celebrate Sweetest Day with one of my friends. We have always been the type to do cute little things for eachother so this just gives us a specific day to do that. It's fun!

don't celebrate sweetest day OR valentines day. Both are just made up holidays for people who already have a TON of money to make even more. I'd rather just do something for my hubby because I love him and do it on a whim then on some corporate holiday.. sorry if I sounds like a butt =/
