The walls in our reception hall have rose-colored squares all around it. I'm trying to think of a way to kind of hide them. I was thinking balloons or something, I don't know. I just want to minimize the rose color since our colors are yellow and white. Any ideas? Here's a picture..

I think once you start to put your own stuff in there, the squares won't be as noticeable as they are now in a bare room.

Here is what I was planning on doing to make the walls look less bah

Basically something really similar to that. I got about 500 balloons for about $50. I'm also going make some stands to hold them instead of using helium because regular air will last a long time in balloons and helium is only 20 hours and I don't wnat to spend the day before my wedding putting together a bunch of topiares.

Make it sort of like a picture. Put tulle over them and post pictures of you and your fh on them. Rather than having a slideshow, you could post the pictures on the wall.

That just came to me. You could pre-prep the pics on the tulle, so that all you'll have to do is put up the tulle when you are decorating.

Are they bullitan boards? Like for messages for the hall? if so you could lift up the glass and put any color you want there. If its Yellow and white and I think the color is ok, you could actually incorporate some flowers in your centerpiece that color I think the trio would be beautiful. I originally picked red and white, but my reception place has oriental carpeting in some spots that are red balck and white, so incorporated a little black in there as well and it looks great with the trio.

Maybe something like this? I found them on ebay

These are all really great ideas, you guys are so creative! They aren't bulletin boards...they are just decoration I guess. I really like the tulle idea... but I remember the lady in charge of the reception hall said they don't want any tape or nails or anything in the walls...so I'm not sure how I could get it to stay up.

I also saw those daisies on ebay and I thought of those also. It would be great if the ceiling was one of those "drop" ceilings so I could hang them from the ceiling or something, but I don't think it's like that. Hmm...

the problem is without any tape or anything you cant do much. my idea is either dim the lights and nobody with notice, or try and find some cheap lighting and put yellow bulbs in it and focus the lights on the CORNERS of the room and nobody will notice that color - mainly though, i think that dimming the lights will do the trick.

That may be what we have to do. The only other thing I can come up with is tying a few balloons together with a weight at the bottom of each and put them around the whole room. But I think that might be a little tacky. Dimming the lights would be a lot cheaper too lol.

I love the idea of uplighting... I bet a few uplights in combination with the balloons would look awesome. What are the walls made of? Did the woman give you any suggestions as to what you could use instead of tape?

ya the balloons might also get in people's way if they are on the ground with a weight. im one of the clumsiest people around and i know those situations find me!!!!!! there is one of us in every group. careful with the balloons!!! hahah

She didn't give any suggestions...I think they'd just prefer if you leave the walls alone altogether. So probably lighting is my safest bet. And maybe just a *few* balloons ...I'm clumsy too so I'd probably be the one tripping over them too! haha
