It seems like a honeymoon registry is the best option for us as we own a house and we want to go to Ireland. We have other registry options but we feel this is important. Also, my mom wants to do a honeymoon shower or something like that instead of a typical one.
Anyone done a honeymoon registry and do you suggest any? I was thinking of http://www.lynotttours.com because you can setup your entire trip and then make a registry for it.

My Opinions might sound negative, but I dont think a honey moon registry is such a good idea. Its asking someone to fund your honey moon! In my opinion it is just as bad as sending a deposit slip with a wedding invitation or shower. People are funny about money. They would rather give you money or a gift that you can use towards your future lives together.

IMO...I just think it is better to just not register and hopefully people will just give you $$$$!!

I don't know...I mean I figure if people don't want to use it they won't. It wouldn't offend me. In fact I'd love to contribute to an amazing honeymoon.

My problem with them is the 7% fee the registries take out. I mean if your guests want to just give you money toward your honeymoon why should some random company profit off that for putting up a webpage.
I think if I were to ask for that I'd ask for specific gift certificates, like we stay at best western's when we can, and fly amaerican airlines and I might look up some links for places we'd want to eat and see if people can get gift certificates to those places.

Yeah I wasn't sure about the 7% fee but then I thought about taxes and shipping fees which I've paid for gifts. We're not 100% sure about this one place, it would probably make more sense to setup our honeymoon through a company and then do a registry through that.

Its your registry just giving you my input, I would never fund someones homey moon, young couple just starting out, im sure you could use house hold stuff of money more importantly then a frivilous homeymoon.

Honeymoon registries are quite fashionable right now - but I think you should either stick to a classic registry or hope for cash. I'm sure that although you have a house, you probably need deco, or furniture, or nice plates, etc... People are more willing to contribute towards you buying a nice sofa for your home than a honeymoon.
Plus even if they do give you cash, 7% is a lot of money for that company to take from you - and your guests.

I appreciate the opinions although it isn't frivilous to us...we are so excited to go to Ireland...it's a huge deal. There are some things we need but our honeymoon is more important.
