Speaking of contests ....

Our local radio station is running a contest and the price is an all inclusive, one week trip to Mexico. Every time you hear the jet engines, you have to call with the right seat number. The 8th caller through qualifies and once a week they draw a name from all the qualifiers.

While at work, I listen to the station via the internet so there is an additional 5 second broadcasting delay. There is no point in calling in since the winning caller will have already got through.

So today, I was up early enough to hear the seat number of the day. I am driving in to work, I hear the jets, I call on my cell and ..................









DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was caller number 7. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww so close!!!

I've been pretty lucky with this radio station actually ....

I have won a jennair stove, $500 of beef, a kitchenaid blender, tickets to see Beatlemania & Randy Travis, movie premier tickets and a whole slew of books. Hugh won us a trip to Cuba from the station 3 years ago.

We also came so very close to winning a trip to Monaco by LOL calling in and singing in the shower.

I have won food vouchers, movie tickets, theater tickets, 6-flags tickets, and other useless ****... I call it all the time too Elizabeth. I sit at my desk all day with the radio on ... so I am constantly trying to call in and win things. They rarely give ANYTHING big... the last time they gave a trip to Destin, Florida in a really nice condo for the weekend. I was qualified but did not win! Bummer!

They actually just announced a new contest though starting next week. It is a REALLY COOL PRIZE! You call in when you hear 3 Maroon Five songs back to back and then you get qualified for a limo ride to Atlanta, 2 front row passes to Maroon Five Concert, Backstage passes and after party passes, photo shoot with the band and all food and drinks paid for! I like the band ok ... not a die hard fan or anything but I think it would be awesome to win!

I use to try the radio contests all the time. Never even got through to find out it was close to being the right caller!

Ya know the saying, "if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck?" I think I have the no luck!!!

I never call - but maybe I should now that I see that it's actually possible to win. I always just assumed it always would happen to someone else, so why bother?

We didn't get most of the things we won, by calling. They were normally either an email contest or some sort of drawing.

I have one concert tickets to see "Three Dog Night" , I won a contest on a radio station of your worst set up moments..My gram tried hooking me up with a distant cousin at a family reunion once...I got a free meal at a fancy restaurant...Those were the only contests I won from a radio station..

I'm sure this is no surprise to any of you..But Crown Royal sponsors the Nascar race in the spring at Richmond. Every year they have a contest on their website to have the race named after you. You have to submit a 50 word essay explaining your crowning moment. If you win the race is named after you and you are the "grand marshall!! So, I ofcourse submitted our engagement story..Hopefully we win and the race will be named after me!! How freakin cool would that be!! My dream of meeting Dale Jr. may just become a reality!!

I won a motorcycle from a radio station. It was a drawing and the winner had to present to win. I was *this close* to not going to the drawing. There were two names drawn before mine of people who weren't present.
When they called my name I just stood there with my mouth open because I was so in shock.

never entered radio stations.. but when ever i won like, trips, they wouldnt let me because of income.. thanks guys! lol
