Now I was doing some searching and found these....

http://www.budget-bride.com/88816.jpg\
I think these are absolutely gorgeous... I remember someone made a thread about these but am unable to find them....

I was just wondering of an opinion, if Imade clusters of the crystals on the wire and put them throughout my bouquet would that look good or weird??? How would I go about making these??

I think it would look good. I don't really care for the crystal bouquets without flowers. I love that first picture you posted. They look really weak when its just the beads to me.

Firespirit has made ALOT of her own things using crystals and if I am correct has made the bout's for her guys and bouquets for her girls out of crystals. Find her journal and you can see pics. She is really talented!

BrideInCuffs, were you the one that was going to add crystals to the wedding dress you were getting? I just recall that thread somewhere. If so, this would match wonderfully :)

Bride in Cuffs:

Here's a pic of my bouquet, basically the crytals are in clusters (to sort of look like baby's breath). I used to have a full crystal bouquet, pictured in my journal but I think this way looks a lot better. Basically I made the stems put together clusters of about 15-20 stems and twisted those together and then treated them like a flower stem in the bouquet. I did en up using duct tape to make sure everything stayed in place.

Here are the Bridesmaid's: A big bow will be added to these I just didn't want it to crush over the next year.

Firespirit thank you!!! I wasn;t about to find where you had posted the thread about your DIY. But yes your bouquets are gorgeous and that what I am planning on doing, I really like the extra sparkle to the bouquet and it will take some of the price out of using alot of flowers, but this way I can add some more bulk to my bouquet!!!

For size reference I used the 6mm swarovski bicone crystals. I did learn the swarovki pearls are very heavy looking and don't sparkle as much so if you put any in there your really want to have very few. I've got about 3 pearls for every 14 crystals.

They are the silk roses from Michael's (the slightly off-white color) I think they were $2 a peice. The smaller ones are from their the bridal section they are called periwinkle ribbon flowers.

Firespirit what guage of wire did you use? and was it silver or silver plated?

I think this link will take you to the wire I used:

http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=H201280WR

If it doesn't, I used 26 Guage color coated copper wire (everything else was just too expensive since I had to use about 2ft of wire per stem). I think I got about 45 stems out of each spool.

I made my own crystal stems for my bouquet. It was quite a process and took way more time and effort thatn I could have ever thought lol! I made enough for my bouquet, 2 BM bouquets, and all bouts and corsages for DH, the GM, and parents/grandparents. I can't remember the guage, but I used regular floral wire in the flower department at Hobby Lobby. Here are some pics.

Aww! Thanks so much for posting the pic, Serendipity!

I made my bouquet, my MOH and all of the bouts with crystals. It took A LONG time...a long, long time, lol. It was a fun project to do with my MOH, a few strawberry margaritas and a few good movies on Friday nights, though.

I think crystal bouquets are absolutely beautiful. One of our brides hate flowers and we are creating her a crystal bouquet to carry, and she is so excited because she wants different for her wedding and this will oblige her vision.

I found some beads on this site http://www.gemmall.com/wholesale/glass_beads/chinese_crystal_clear.htm

They don't seem tooo expensive. Do you guys mind sharing how many beads you ended up using for the bride's bouquet and the boots for the guys?

I think I might have enough time left to do these if I get started on them during the New Year break.

I am making everything out of crystals as I am allergic to flowers. Here is my maid of Honors Bouguet. I have the bouts made from this too and all of the other places where you would use flowers are crystals also here is a pick of hers. She is wearing pink so its mostly green. The others are wearing green so theres is going to be mostly pink. Mine is all clear. Hope this helps

Wow! You did a great job. What is the estimated cost to make that bouquet?

cole_b27
01-23-2008, 10:57 AM
They are about $30 topps per bouguet. I actually got hair ties that had the chunky crystals hanging off them. I cut them all apart and got the smaller ones from walmart. I used to work for Swarovski and had my heart set on only using their stones but I figured that I was doing these to save money and not to spend 100's on stones. These sparkle just the same and I love them. LEt me know and I can give you more tips.

I'm almost finished with all of my crystal stems - it wasn't as bad as I thought - just string three crystals on the wire, and twist till you reach the end.

My florist doesn't seem to happy about slipping these into bouquet - or the boots, but I set my foot down . My bridesmaids aren't carrying flowers - we are using lamps so my bouquet and the boots are all the flowers we are using so he's not happy that he won't get the money for doing this.

Too bad, my budget, my wedding, my crystal stems. The end.

Gennymac, what size crystals did you purchase from GemMall? Did you use the florist wire, too? I think it's 26 gauge?? I'd like to make some to slip in the men's bouts and bouquets. Do you know how many you bought? Thanks for the info!

I am not done but this is what I have gotten so far. I am going to do a silver ribbon wrap around it. I am going to wait until the night before the wedding to open them up. I have done 5 so far. 2242

It depend on how large you want it and how much time do you have. I brought my twister (wild wire) from micheals. I used floral wire. You get more and it can be cheaper. I used czeh crystals from fire mountain.com. It would take me about 2wks to do one when I got home from work. That would be about 350 crystals. If you need anymore help let me know.

I think I'm going to do both fake flowers and crystals. Any suggestions on what colors to use? My dress is between ivory and yellow, my FH is wearing a gray pin striped suit with a burgandy tie and my MOH (my 11 y/o) is wearing yellow, and my flower girl (my 18mon baby) is wearing white...We're getting married on the beach

Yellow and burgandy calla lillies maybe nice. For my wire I used green wire. It match with my flower stems better. And gave it a better look. When I get home I will try to post a pic. You should try to add maybe 5 crystal stems to his flower.

What about something like this but with crystals too and maybe yellow instead of white... I really like the sunflowers and daisies too, Do you think they will go good with anything else? I'll have to go look and see what I find at the local craft shop. Roses and daisies actually sound good but I don't know how they'll go together hmm...

I think you definitely have time -- especially if you are doing a combination of flowers & crystals/beads.

I'd say I spent 3 nights making all of my crystal stems. I made them for the men's bouts, 4 BMs and myself. I already dropped them off at the florist, but I think I made 140 long-stemmed crystals, and 30 short ones for the bouts (I'm planning on 3 to a boutonierre). Used floral wire and a box of irridescent beads from Michael's. Was $7 for my supplies.

I think that would be fine. Just decide how much you want it to stand out. If you are looking for more of an cluster type this link my help http://beadedflowers.tripod.com/international/index.htm. I used one of the designs for my bout's. I just look and they have the one's you may like on fire mountain. They were very pretty. If you did the instruction on how to make them I will send the link. Alot of people try to access her page and it is down alot. If I had time I would make it for you. I have done 6 350 bouquets and 15 bout and corsages. I am doing a crystal wreath and and making all the jewelery. And time is just ticking away. I would love to help so if you need a quick reply email me at wedding31@comcast.net. Good luck

Ladies!!!! If you use an electric drill the process goes much faster. I made these bouquets and fillers for a couple of girls at work. You get an electric drill, I am sure your fathers or hubby to be's have one. Then instead of a bit you use a hook that you would screw into the ceiling or wall and put the screw part in the drill and tighten. Then put the bead or beads on the center of a pre cut piece of wire, fold in half give a loose twist or two and hook it on the hook. Drill away. Stop before the twists get to the top and there you have it. It save your wrists and fingers from a lot of pain. I made a whole bouquet in one night using this process.
Also, I only use swarovski but any kind of bling will work.
