View Full Version : "Corset" Invitations

Alright, so I'm looking to make my own invitations here in a few months once we find a venue and all that jazz. Or even sooner, and just wait to do inserts. I was thinking of the types that have fabric on the front and lace up like a corset.
Of course the one decent pic I have is on my home computer so I can't show you here.
Anyhow! I'm trying to recall the name for the length of paper that would be right for this. That I could fold into thirds: a middle panel and two sides coming together in front to lace up. A-10? Maybe I'm waaaay off.
Even a good estimated length would be good right now.

Ya, that was pointed out in Tango's thread. No offense, but as lovely as they are they are far too spendy for us to afford from her site :(. And I really like DIYs :)

No offence taken ... I actually posted thinking that you might get some ideas re: doing your own.

Yes I have haunted her thread a bit and studied the ones she did. Might do something similar we'll see when I can get my lil' self over to a craft store again :)

I'm just now seeing this!
PM me if you have any specific questions. My corset invite covers are awesome...I LOVE them so much!
I've changed the inserts a billion times, but the corset part has always been the same....seriously can't love them any more.
I used black card stock...regular size 8.5" x 11". I just folded them in enough to fit my tri-fold inserts. There's a gap about 3.5" (I think) that I laced up. When I made the bow, I put a little double heart dangle on it before I tied it. It completed the look I was going for.
Anyway! Let me know if you have questions!

Very cute! I'm probably going to go with some simple inserts but I've had the corset style in my head for awhile and figured it'd be pretty easy! The card stock was the big question for me I wasn't sure if a regular size would work best or what, to fit inserts in. But you cleared that up :D Oh, and I might have the "front" be the laced bit.
When I get to a craft store to find the paper and ribbon I want I'll have to post some pics!

It really isn't too hard....a little time consuming, but as long as you don't wait until a week before you send them out, it should be no big deal at all. I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it really was.
And you'll LOVE them. And so will everyone else. I've had a great response so far....and they're not even done yet. :frogg:
