I am in the process of looking for materials for my DIYs projects coming up. From anyone who has been working on these, what is the best kind of glue to use. I want something that is not going to dry and peal, I want something that dries clear, and is durable. I have a project I would like to start but am having a hard time with deciding what glue works for putting swarvoski flatbacks onto a pliable plastic. Is it possible, with what glue????:whoa:

I have been searching for this too (will be adding *BLING* to some of my things) and I think my FH found some for me. It's called Gem Tac and it sounds like it should be perfect. As soon as I get it I will do a trial run. I'll be keeping an eye on your thread to find out some other opinions too! :)

For a lot of my DIY projects I went to Joanne Fabrics and I got a little bottle of what they call "Bridal Glue". It stays put and it won't yellow on you or peal.
Anything that I wasn't gluing onto plastic I used a glue gun. DO NOT use a glue gun on plastics or rubbers! Suepr glue works well but you want something thick enough that it'll adhese. Kevin and I tested out a lot of glues and this is what we found worked the best.

I use this:
http://www.artbeads.com/gs-hypo.html To put the crystals on my veil and it worked great. It comes out of a pin shaped top so you only get a little glue at a time. DO NOT use hot glue it will melt the crystal and dry hard to any type of fabric. I hope this helps. Good luck I can't wait to see how it turns out :whoohoo:

kevinsbride2B - I used a type of superglue too, but on a couple of rhinestone supply sites it says NOT to use superglue because it will discolor the rhinestones. (It might take a while for that to happen - or it might just be a ploy to sell their glue, but I didnt want to chance it - so I am still researching/searching) :D

ETA - hope you don't mind a corresponding question - for those of you who already completed your projects - did you use any 'tool' for placing the rhinestones on your project? I have arthritis and its sometimes hard for me to handle these little itty bitty stones, so I was researching this too. There are such things as 'rhinestone picker-uppers' (I'm NOT kidding, thats what one is called! :D ) There is also a little grabber type tweezer that has tiny claws that go around the stone, but I think you might touch that to the glue and be in trouble. I also read that a simple toothpick with a bit of dental floss wax will do the trick. (you touch the end of the toothpick to the wax, then touch the top of the rhinestone and when you place it on the glue, it then releases - so that is the top runner for me I think). Anyway, any other tips when working with rhinestones?

So the project I am going to start working on is this.... My mother and FH think I am crazy and will not have the patience for it. But since looking at shoes threads I really want a unique pair of shoes and something that will be cool in my opinion....

OK well I want these shoes...

With the clear plastic part being all of these...

I was thinking of doing them in the 1.5mm which are pretty small.... I want some sparkley sparkley shoes... some bling bling you might say...

So Bridal Glue or the hypo cement one??? Would this project even be feasible???
