So people keep asking me, what is the dress like for my wedding. I want everyone to be casual and comfortable but not to casual. I was thinking at least for the men suits and ties are not necessary, but I would like them in at least dress pants and a collar shirt. Do you think I should put some sort of insert in the invitations. I am already putting a notice in the invites about sandals. Since I am getting married at a beach sandals are a must to get out to our ceremony site. If I put this on an insert, how should I word this? Or should I just do it word of mouth? I am confused :(

If someone told me that the dress was "office casual" ... to me, that would mean that the men would wear dress pants, khakis (anything but jeans) and a shirt with a collar. A tie or jacket wouldn't be necessary.
The ladies would be in dress pants or a casual dress (again, anything but jeans).

You could say "Informal", "Dress Casual" or "Sunday Dress"

Business casual indicates (to me) the dress you're looking for.
I don't know that I'd put it in the invitation...but maybe on a separate insert. Say something like "men would be most comfortable in khakis and a button up shirt." Not sure how to incorporate sandals, but I've seen some very cute beach weddings where the b&g provide a bucket with embellished brushes for people to wipe the sand from their feet.

OO i wouldn't put it on the actual invite. I am making little booklets that go in the invites for the accomadaions, directions, and the sandal sitution I was thinking I could put it there. My sister wrote this really cute poem about beach sandals. Which basically says: Please wear sandals. As soon as it is done I will post it.

FH and I just had this exact conversation yesterday!! We were trying to figure out the exact same thing for our wedding.
Great post! :whoohoo:
We were thinking about an insert, too, actually. The booklet is a great idea, as well!!
Great timing, Danielle. :bblol:

I would say "business casual" as well.
