I dont know if someone has done this one or not, but I would love to see what everyone had, or is planning on having their wedding cake look like... and let me know what flavors the cake will be.

I wanted a really simple cake - but I want it to be TALL! So I am doing 5 layers (Not sure which flavors yet). This is the basic style of cake that I am wanting:
1396
But with Black and Pink ribbon - I can't decide if I want to do the polka dots or if I will do a black ribbon with the hot pink on top:

And of course my homemade Cake topper!

Thanks! Have you picked out your Krim? Or do you have an idea of what you want?

I Have No Idea, I Go Back And Forth With Different Ideas, We Know For Sure The Kind Of Cake He Wants For His Grooms, He Loves This Choc, On Choc, On Choc Cake... I Told Him We Will Have To Serve Milk, It Is Just So Rich.

But For Mine I Have No Clue, I Think Simple But Then I Want "different".

Is It Too Soon To Do A Tasting? I Thought We Might Have To Hop Around And See Different Cake People, We Know The Place We Are Getting His, And He Loves It, Gets It Every Year For His Birthday, But I Just Dont Know If I Will Love Her Wedding Cakes... I Will Start There But Do You Think Its Too Soon?

Ours will be 3 layers

square with ribbons like this but each layer will have one of our colors.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/peak1431/elegant_33_1.jpg

and it will have flowers like this the will fade into the color of the ribbon
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v209/peak1431/wedding2031.jpg

we haven't decided on the kinds yet we are doing another tasting this month to decide and the toppers won't be on the cake they will be on the table because they are to heavy.

It is NEVER too soon to start looking for what you want! Most bakeries will have books full of pictures and they can offer inspiration. Like ... give them just a little to work with and most can just go from there. Get some basic quotes and then taste test when you have narrowed it down to the price range you want. But yeah ... that will come closer to your date.

You are going with a beach theme, yes? You could always do something fun and have a cake that resembles a sand castle as well ^-^

My fiance really loves this cake:
http://www.bakersmaninc.com/image/cakes/King%20Plow%20Topsy%20turvy.jpg

It's not really what I hade in mind but I did like that it's unique. The only thing I'm worried about is getting a local baker to replicate it without it looking like it's an accident waiting to happen.

Thank you..The had the S and the J on the wrong side..They were to be facing one another...Yep that is good old walmart ribbon on my cake..I think she just cut it with sciorros. In the back of the cake its held in with pins.

Mine is very similar if not the same as Panther's bride, but our flowers are going to be red. As of right now we are thinking about doing red velvet cake with chocolate rasberry filling. I also want a topper not the ribbon on top.

We did cheesecakes. The girl that baked for me did 12 of them...all different flavors. They were a big hit. My cousin had a tradional wedding cake that was totally beautiful..but it didn't get touched. Everyone went for the cheesecakes.

What a great idea Ger! I absolutely love cheesecake, and make a to-die-for Pumpkin Pie one, mmmm. I think I'm too attached to the idea of a froofy cake to go the non-traditional route though, hehe.

Well beings as I'm not at work I was bored and looking at more cakes so I thought I'd share, I simply adore this one, and the place that makes them does a lot of others all with edible floral arrangements: http://www.wildflowersbylori.com/Wedding%20cakes.htm

i love those crooked cakes, but i would be afraid mine would fall over.

that cake with the bridge connecting all the other cakes, that reminds me of the cakes my mom and all older relatives had at their wedding. I always thought that was more popular in the 60's and 70's because that is the only time i have ever seen that cake was in their pictures, not now. I think it is pretty cool though!

i am still debating on my cake. I dont like the filled cream cakes....so I am not sure what i will get.

We are not doing a traditional wedding cake!! Instead of a traditional tierred wedding cake we are doing a blackforrest sheet cake!!! In the middle of this cake we are going to have a picture of the two of us and our daughter surrounded by an icing heart!! On the outside of the picture and heart we are going to have the regular icing and cherries!! This is our favorite kind of cake and is cheaper to do then a regular wedding cake!! It will only cost $80 to do!! I am so excited to see the finished product!!!

Not quite how we had envisioned it but .... our friend baked the cake (creamsicle with cointreau infused orange curd in between the layers) & Hugh helped make the butterfly decorations. My friend added the fondant and then she brought it over to us partially decorated. I rearranged & added the decorations.

Here are some pics taken the night before the wedding. We put two butterflies onto wires and put them into the cake just before it was displayed.

http://www.serendipity-crafts.com/images/WeddingCake.jpg

Note - the empty cointreu glass beside me? LOL That was all I consumed before my 7:30 pm wedding too. Nummies!

I have the same image for our inspiration, but with black ribbon and no flowers. I already have the same topper and since ours will on only be 3 layers (one white, one chocolate, one marble) I think I may need to get a silver or clear tall cake stand to make it stand taller!

I think I deleted my inspiration pic and I can't seem to find it again, but here is my cake. I loved it! It was all white with strawberry filling, then we had 2 half sheet cakes, one chocolate and one white.

This is the inspiration for the cake we are doing. We are going to have several smaller cakes in differnt flavors. And are going to write little words from our wedding vows on them. Instead of pink and black we are going to do the cake accents in a red and brown. I saw these cakes in an issue of Martha Stewart magazine and just fell in love instantly.

Our cake is going to be a combo of these two cakes. It's mostly like this one - 4 tiers but with a softer shade of pink and light chocolate piping. The lacy pattern is all pointing downwards as well.

http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e102/keelyhealthnut/DSC01535.jpg

Then on the second tier to the top we are doing an S monogram like on this cake -

I don't think I still have my inspiration cake on the computer anymore, but my cake turned out even better then what I had invisioned. It was 4 layers, the bottom was fake (we didn't need that much cake, but I wanted 4 layers lol) then we had a layer of french vanilla, red velvet, then the top layer was french vanilla again. Our grooms cake was chocolate.

Isn't it? The woman who did my cake works out of her home, and when I met with her I orignally showed her a much simpler cake, then she saw that picture on camera and asked about it. I told her I really liked it but thought the other would be easier. She was like, honestly I like the scroll cake better, can I do that one lol. Of course I said yes!! It was super cheap (like $2 pp compared to $4-6 pp) and I LOVE it!

Alright, out of the last 11 pages, I've found two new favorites:

Now my FH wants the our cake like the offroading one, but I think we'll do a groom's cake like that, and for my cake I want a mixture of our trucks (1/32 scales of our own trucks), with the black and white contrast like the cake below, but on the white cake. I want one main above the fountain, then with two coming off the main cake with 'trails' going from the main cake to the smaller cakes.. with our trucks on the trails....

..am I making sense? :purplex:

The bottom was petal-shaped, the middle was hectagon or hexagon-something like that, and the top was just a basic round one. We didn't even get to eat any of the strawberries! :irked:

It was so moist and everyone loved it!!

And it was rumored to have cost $6000!!! ummm I don't think so people!!

Thanks. I cried when She first set it up. It was exactly what i imagined.

I told Her i want the same colour Roses as My Bouquet. So i sent Her a spare Rose. Also mailed Her the left over Ribbon and Feathers from My Bouquet. So it all tied in nicely.

Came in at under $300 with delivery and feeds 160.

I've still got a Tier to take into work for the girls.

DH's Daughters took half a Tier home with them.

Love Your cake. Very unusual.

Whenever We've had Birthday Parties for Friends at Our house a sword is used to cut the cake.
We did think about using one for Our Wedding Cake. But went for a standard Cake Knife in the end.

Yeah, the cake bakers tried to give us a hard time about that, too. But we really wanted marzipan icing (it only comes in ivory), and we were already mixing whites and ivories all over the place in our decor, so incorporating it into the cake and adding white dimple dots made people think we were making careful design choices instead of lazy ones! :lafhard:

The florist did such an awesome job with the flowers... I was totally impressed!

I am using more of a royal blue than pastel color and i agree with you there, however im not sure if i really want to change the black ribbon, it has such a classic elegance with the black and white...maybe keep the black ribbon and get silver cake topper??

btw..all the decorations on that cake are gumpaste! What an artist eh!?

I have to agree to keep the black - My wedding was black, white and pale blue (Periwinkle), but my cake ended up being mostly black. I think that the royal blue would pop just as well as the red against the black and white!

That's fantastic! What's that on top?

We used Ferarro Rondnoir Dark Chocolates. They were just piled on top once the cake was set-up so we couldn't move the cake to the middle of the dance floor for the cutting.

Oh, and the flavors were:
top 2 tiers - red velvet with cream cheese fillers
second from bottom tier - vanilla cake with hazelnut and mocha fillers
bottom tier - almond cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry preserves

Delicious!

Here's mine! It started to melt before we got to the reception because of the humidity that day. :( Our cake person couldn't even make it to the wedding (she's a friend of DH's family) because she had to do some emergency repairs on the cake.

I honestly cannot remember the flavors! I had just one bite when we cut the cake and then I had about 2 bites from one of the sheet cakes (strawberry) at dinner time. If I could go back in time I would have asked someone to cut a few pieces aside for me and DH in all the flavors so we could enjoy some of our cake the next day. There were a few left overs of white cake, but someone seriously just threw them in a ziploc baggy all together and someone went through and ate all the frosting off the top of all the leftover pieces (guessing it was DH's lil brother).

We haven't finalized ours yet. But we love the cupcake theme and have seen some absolutely gorgeous ones (in addition to some that serve to make our geeky size smile). I'm having a very informal reception and I felt that having cupcakes would be A) easier - no cutting and B) fun - since people can grab one and keep dancing or grab one on their way out the door. :)

Our wedding cake was a total surprise because we didn't get to really choose it just came with our wedding package that we chose since it was so far away. But wow she did a wonderful job and it was gluten free too so i actually got to enjoy the cake. And the seashells and starfish were white chocolate!
What a beautiful cake! Welcome back and congratulations! :coupletoast:

the corals and shells on the cake are completely edible, they are made out of white chocolate. As is the cake topper.
