Hi there ladies! This site is awesome!... Well my first post is very important to me...
My fiance and I have known eachother for 4 years we met online and things just worked out from there. Well at the moment we live in Sioux Falls, SD which is a big City in South Dakota but small town comparatively to other places. Well We met in person for the first time in Kansas City, MO at a hotel called the quarterage (Its amazing!) and my grandparents are old and live in Kentucky and his whole family and friends are from Arkansas... the rest of my family are spread out from Kansas City to Colorado up to Rapid City, SD and althought Sioux Falls is our home it would make it easier on everyone and kind of awesome for us if we get married in Kansas City! SO!!! to make a long story short when getting married in a different location than your home town what are the steps you need to make? I can t find anything online and we REALLY want to have our wedding in KC... What do I have to do before too long to make sure that everything goes down right!?
Feel free to msg and respond !

Welcome to OW! Congrats too :)
We are getting married somewhere else too....
Are you going to try to get married at the hotel you met at? Or at least have your reception there?
Can you afford a planner?
First I would make a plan of what you want...
Then I guess I would start google places there!
Good luck...keep us posted!

Yeah I was thinking I would try having the reception at the hotel if not the whole ceremony but they don t have a lot of options... PLUS what do I do about an officiant is it hard to get one and how do you do that? ... Is it hard to plan and how much do wedding planners usually run for? I am the first of my friends to be getting married (a scary position to be in) and plus we re running on a college student buget so ... Let me know ?
Thank you so much for your post!

First, you need to sit down with FH and figure the budget. Then, if you call the events coordinator for that hotel they will usually offer packages, and tell you what they will and won't allow.
Also, make sure they have enough accomodations for everyone that may be staying (whether you are paying for the room or they are). Other than that I would suggest taking a drive (or flight) to check out the scenery and get decor ideas..maybe have your girls go, and make it a night (or weekend) out..lol BTW I'm only a few hrs. from Kansas City, MO. (VERY GORGEOUS down there)

Really? Where are you at? Im in Sioux Falls... My girls are so wide spread its hard to get us all together, some of them havent even met... (good job moving a lot as a kid) But... I think that is what we re basically doing... We called the wedding coordinator at the hotel and she gave me a list of some locations close by that give me some pretty amazing discounts... so cross your fingers? :)

I live in Marthasville, Missouri (which in reality is prob. a 3 hr. drive from Kansas City, MO.). I have been there though and it is breath taking (the views).
Well, I'm sure you'll get everything worked out. having a wedding at another location besides your hometown (let alone another state) is def. much harder. I hope you find a beautiful venue, and have a dream wedding :hi:
