Our Cuban Honeymoon

So we're back from our honeymoon and I have pics!
We spent a week in Varadero Cuba. It was STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got there at about 10pm. We checked in and went upstairs, didn't we have a SUITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently our travel agent had called previously and they upgraded us at no cost.

Every afternoon when we came back to the room to drop stuff off or to get changed into a dry bathing suit the maid would make us a towel design on the bed.

Unfortunatly on our second night in Cuba Kevin had a bit of an "accident"... It involved a lot of Cuban rum, scotch and bunch of other stuff but he went to stand up, tripped and...
BROKE HIS FOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even the same foot as me and the same bones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was sooooooooooooooooo mad! Mostly because it happend out of stupidity. So there were some "words" but he tried to keep up with me. I just had to take the salsa lessons alone.

On our 1st full day in Varadero I had the oppertunity to meet a couple who have been to Cuba over 19 times! They bring a lot of gifts and things over to the people. I had mentioned that I was hoping to go on a tour and so on, but I wasn't willing to pay 200 peso's to go to Havana. So the 2 of them offered to take us to a small town call Cardenas. A very poor town just outside of Varadero...

This is the transition. The cars too are unbelivable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Theres a picture in a bit that we took with a buick. But this is really the dividing point between the tourism and the locals town.

Whiel we were in the town we took a horse and buggy. You won't find a bac in this area and our rental car was TINY!

This just shows what the hurricane's have done and the breaking of allt he roads. There is absolutly no funding to have anything fixed int his town. Once it's gone it's gone.

One afternoon we were sitting on the beach and we watched a storm roll right in over the island. Infact there was even a cyclone that came up onto land, luckily not near us but we could see it. It was suny over us but across you could see the black skys and the rain POURING!

Eventually the storm blew into us, so where better to go then the pool bar AGAIN! lol we lived there I swear!

The gecko's weren't overly smittin with the rain so they even came to the bar. This one literlly climed onto one of the girls. Thankfully she loved it. I don't think I would have been so amused...

Well up here in Toronto I never have to worry about tornadoe's. A coupel hours away they do but not here. I had never seen anything even resembling one. It was just so crazy how quickly it gathered itself in the air.
I will admit though that at one point it sort of swung towards us and I felt a little hick up in my heart.

Well we ignored his foot. We knew there was something wrong and to get xrays down there (which he needed) was soooooo hard to come by and therefore we'd have to pay. Medical treatment is covered but not xrays by our insurance.
We did however have to go on the Friday to see the Dr. because KEvin woke up in the middle of the night (half asleep) and his throat was dry. He drank the water!!!!!!!!! Did he ever pay for it!!! A full day in bed! Some of the people working at the hotel knew exactly what to do and they made him this tonic sort of a thing. Instantly his fever broke the colour came back into his face. About 2 hours later he had another one and he was even able to eat dinner. By the tiem we saw the Dr everything was fine again.

I know around here Cuba is a very popular vacation spot. It's super cheap for Canadians to go and it's a beautiful climate so it's a bonus.
I just wanna go back now! I'm not a fan of fall, because it means that winter is creeping back up on us :(

Well the wedding, no we didn't drink much to be honest, it was just the fact that everywhere we turned someone had a bottle of champagne sitting there for us. I don't even think Kevin and I finished a glass of wine with our dinner. So no we really didn't drink much. However I will admit that to calm my nerves before the ceremony I had a vodka and soda witrh a twist of lime givn to me (again I finished maybe half of it.
As for our honeymoon yes we drank. All inclusive deffinetly we drank. Not that we got trashed every night by any means, but we did have our rum. When we're at home we truly never drink. Friday nights Kevin has a scotch and I get creative for myself, but aside from that, that's it.

The salsa dancing was AMAZING!!!! I danced professionally for like 15 years and I also taught for a while. So getting the chance to dance real salsa with real salsa dancers was amazing!!!Kevin has 2 very left feet so it was no sweat off his back that he didn't dance lol.

Kevin's foot is looking A LOT better!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness, cause it was getting pretty nasty for a while. All the bruising came out and we were like "cool it's almost better" then the swelling got super bad again when we got home and now it's gone down. Lets just hope it stays that way!
