you are really going to have to blow dry your hair to get that sleek smooth style. then you have to use a big curling iron to curl the entire hair. are you going to a salon to get it done?

have you blown it dry yourself with a round brush or paddle brush. if not, you may want to go to the salon. are you going to wear a tiara or veil? you have to think about that one too.

then all you need is lots of teasing, make sure to bobbypin the headpiece in place, that way it is secure. when you are blowdrying, use smoothing cream, shine spray to get that shine. section the hair and blow dry in sections. keep going over the section with the brush and dryer until ends are smooth, and hair has a shine to it. you could also use hot rollers to get a foundation curl and then go over it with the curling iron. its going to be alot of work, but you can handle it.

A PRO! GREAT!

Ok, my hair is REALLY oily at the top and REALLY dry at the bottoms...I have split ends GALORE (I get my hair cut all the time). I want to have a half up half down do...but I want it to look really nice...any tips?

(By the way, Carrie, I took your tip about washing my hair less and it has been helping a LOT!)

Nothing like a seriously obscure question to say hi and welcome to the boards with!

I am getting married in August at Niagara Falls, NY. I am doing my own hair, but I am trying to get some suggestions. I am going to pull half of my hair up and do a downward french twist, then the bottom will all be curly. I have thick hair. Usually when I curl it, I need a lot of hairspray to hold the curl, but then my hair gets CRUNCHY!! Are there any good curl holding products out there? It has to be strong though b/c of the wind!!

Find a salon that sells Artex hairspray they have a great strong hold hair spray. or try Big Sexy Hair hairspray. I just used that on a wedding party we had come into the salon today. there were 13 girls. all got updos. everyone loved the big sexy hairspray. you could also use a spray gel, but just lightly misted on the hair just before curling. Here are some other tips for you:

Before you do all the curling, when your hair is damp, apply lots of mousse and dry hair upside down with a blow dryer. Do not attempt to curl your hair the same day you wash it. It must be one day old to help it hold. now, what made you decide to do an upside down french twist? putting your hair half up is not hard at all. after your hair is dry, use a natural bristle brush to smooth out the hair and put in hot rollers. this will help hold curl before using the curling iron. let them sit until they are cool. remove and spray with firm hold hairspray. don't be afraid to tease up the crown area. it helps build a foundation for the pins. For a more tousled look, pull the front hair back and twist upward and secure with a tight griping clip, elastic, or rubberband. tease the base of the free ends of the front hair. and use the curling iron and curl all the hair. when you are finished, using your hand in like a claw position push the hair up with your fingers and where your fingers touch your head, place bobby pins until hair is secure, fix lose ends. for a more softer elegent look, after you remove the hot rollers tease hair at the crown area, brush back softly and take random big sections in the front area and twist back and secure with bobby pins. cross the bobbypins over one another for a stronger base. bring all sections together in the back and pick random sections and curl back into form of the hot roller. arrange either overlaping each other or in big single curls layed flat on the head and secured with hair pins or bobbypins. just play around with these. with this you can create almost anything from casual dos to formal dos. let me know if you have any more questions. will be more than happy to help.

Hi,
Unfortunately I had a bit of a disaster hair cut and it's a lot shorter than I wanted it to be. It's about shoulder length, is it still possible to have a chignon or a large bun (like a J-Lo style). I'm looking for simple yet pretty.

i know a bad haircut is the last thing you want to deal with. if there are layers in your hair, it will probaly be difficult to do. if that is the case, you can buy hair pieces to wrap around your ponytail. iif you get a good one, no one will ever know the difference. they have all kinds out there. in all colors and lengths.
