The night before...
So it's 8pm on Friday the 14th of September and we have just finished decorating the hall. There we are standing in the ballroom of what is about to be our "wedding reception" and we're not celebrating we're saying good bye. The next time we see eachother will be when he greets me at the end of the aisle at 3pm the following day. I swear that good bye took FOREVER!!! We must have hugged 10 tiems before he finally left the room.
I got in the car with my crew and he the same with his. Kevin was staying at his brother in laws place (the BM) and he had all the guys joining him there. I have a smaller place so I really couldn't have the entire party of girls with me. Not to mention there is no way I would ever get to sleep at a decent hour or at all for that matter.
I remember driving back home and feeling all these butterflies in my tummy. Just thinking to myself "have I finished everything???" Meanwhile I knew it was to late otherwise. I made my best friend sleep over that night I needed her with me. Her wedding was last summer so I knew that she had a pretty good idea how I was feeling.
We all came into the house finished up all the little things. My Mom gave me a hug and headed up the stairs. Beforei knew it, it was like 1130. I had to be up in 6 hours and I was knowhere near packed for the day. But I soon realized FORGET it!!! And I decided to do it all in the morning.
I went upstairs and I looked around the rom and I missed Kevin sooooo much! I found his favorite t-shirt lating on his dresser. An old ratty Beastie Boys t-shirt. Even though it was washed I could still smell him on it. I grabed it and put it on to wear to bed. It was that little bit of Kevin that I got to go to sleep with.
So I went back down stairs gave my best friend a hug (whom was VERY excited by this point). Turned everything off and realized then how much I missed Kevin. I was dying to call him! But I was a good girl and didn't! lol
I thought forsure I was going to have a hell of a time going to sleep that night but I was so stressed and nervous that i fell asleep instantly.
The last thing I remember was looking up at the clock and it was 12:11am and I said tomyself "it's my wedding day!"

The Morning...
530am my door to my bedroom whipps open, the lights get flicked on and it's my Mom saying "IT'S YOUR WEDDING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!" Honestly excitment didn't overly consume me at that point, my nice warm duvet that I was cuddled up with seemed liek a much better option. But I jumped out of bed and headed down the stairs. My best friend sat int he livingroom telling me what a great day it was and blah blah blah, still wasn't feeling it. I think it was the lack of caffeine.
But I polished off my coffee and headed upstairs to pack the rest of my stuff. Gradually compiling a heap of stuff all over the couch to go out. It was goign to be my last time at home until after the wedding.
With my veil, overnight bag, kleenex, and all the other essentials I headed out to the car. It was beginignt o hit me that I was getting married today!
Driving along I almost wanted to stop people on the road and say "do you know what today is?" I thin this is when the butterflies began and I started to feel anxious.

The Hairdressers...
So we arrived very soon at the hairdresser. Everyone at the salonw as so excited to see us. They even had coffees waiting for us. But we brought our own redbulls never the less.
Soon after us my bridal party started to pour into the salon. When the sun started to come up a little more I wanted to call Kevin soooooooooooo badly! Just to see if he was nervous or ok or whatever. So I made my bestfriend call her husband who was with him. Guys give away very little. "How's Kevin?" his response: "OK". Thanks for the info buddy!
So I started with my make up. She did an awesome job. Then we moved to the chair. I had mentioned after my hair trial that I wasn't able to wear my tiara, so I went out and bought some decorative bobby pins. I asked the girl in the store if I could wear them with my whole hair style and she didn't see an issue with it. Well putting them in was another ball game. Those suckers just won't go in, and when they did my hair was much to fine to keep them in. We were stuck. So my hairdresser pulled out my tiara that she had tucked away and was going to sell for me. She placed it on the back of my head and said "let me try something". She handed it to the receptionist who took off downt he strip mall to the harware store and had the sids cut off of it. They brought it back in and the 2 of them stood there with fist fulls of bobby pins trying to stick it to my head. Well it worked!
I got my veil placed in and it was time to head out to Gramma's with everyone else.

The power of the flower...
So we arrived at my Grandparents pretty quickly. I was expecting my planner to coem running in at the same time as me with my brisesmaids bouquets which we was putting together for me. We had decided on 20 mini callas in each bouquet tightly wrapped in a ribbon and walla. Well he did arrive and I was so happy to see him. Kiss kiss hug hug he came up the stairs saying "I have some flowers for you". Then he took the out of the box... OMG!!!!!!!!!!! they contained 8 mini calas. And I mean MINI not what I was expecting at all! They were about 4 to 6 inches tall and put it this way, they woudl have suited a barbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I looked at my Mom and she just smiled. He left and I sat down and cried. They wetren't even the right colour. They were purple! It's a pink wedding!!!!!!!!!!! So my Mom saved the day. She jumped ont eh phoen with our old boss who own a floral store nearby where we both used to work at. My cousin jumped in the car with one of the barbie bouquets and went to get reenforcement.
While I was waiting for her to return my Grandfather walked in with boxes of flowers. Oen of them being my bouquet. Really it was more than I had ever expected!!! I just loved it! So many lillies and orchides all int eh right colours and so so so beautiful. It instantly perked me up.
My cousin came bak in the door also with a big box filled with light pink roses, fern and babies breath. My Mom who was still in ther tracksuit (with her hair and make up done) sat on the floor of the living room untying, snipping, breaking off with her teeth and so on. All she said was "Lindsey, go get ready..." So I did.
All in all the bouquets for the girls looked WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!! Thanks only to my Mom!

Getting into my dress...
So after knowing that my flowers were in capable hands I went up stairs to get my dress on. Caught in the moment I just ran up to put it on. My 4 girls all stood there trying to help me tie it up the back. It was tying much to easily because when they got to the bottom they realized that I had again lost weight and there was this big gaping whole at the bottom of the corset. You could see all the way down my dress. And I mean you could see EVERYTHING!
So they walked me back down the stairs and my Grandmother who had just finished fixing all 4 of the BM dresses still had her needle and thread out and just motioned for me to come over. I literally had to get sewed into that sucker. it took nearly my entire bridal party to tuck me in as she sewed so that I didn't reveal it all to my guests when I was standing at the ceremony lol.
But she got me in and it was fine. Until... I realized I hadn't gone pee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At this point I was just going to hold it!

We're on our way...
After the dress was taken care of and my garter was on with all my jewllery it was time to go. The limo drove up and it was like "ok it's time Lindsey".
All my grandparents neighbours pretty much lined the street. I grew up in that house so everyoen on the street was just like family to me.
A few more pics and it was time to hop in and hit the road.
We all piled in. After me asking obsessivly over and over again "does everyone have EVERYTHING!!!????" Thankfully my girls had patience cause I'm not sure I would have lol.
That train was soooooooooooooo heavy and it took the girls a little while to remember that I needed help carrying it lol.
But we all hopped in and it was time to go.
We drove on to the main street. All I wanted was music and I was shaking so badly that I couldn't control the stereo.
We passed the hairstressers place and my Mom decided to lean out the windo to wave. Well with one little push off popped her strap. Luckily we convinced her to wait to get it sewed on at the venue because she was just goign to cut it off.
Before I knew it we drove up to the hall. My heart instantly stareted to pound.
Kevin was already there and I told everyone in the limo that there was no way in hell I was getting out unless I knew forsure he was locked away in his room somewhere. I could just imagine him stolling out for a cigarette when I was getting out of the limo.
So my cousin ran in and ensured that he was in there. It didn't matter, my legs were still jello and I was afraid of standing because I was sure I was goignt o fall. Not to mention my still fragile foot.
But I got up with a lot of the help of the girls and got inside. It was so nice to see all the people at the hall with big smiles and looking stunning.
They sent me upstairs to the bridal suit to be locked away until 3pm when I was to walk down the aisle.

Locked away in the bridal suit...
I was told initally that they would have this room for me to stay in until the wedding. I had no idea how out of their way they would go to ensure everything was perfect for me though. Beautiful pink roses, sparkeling wine, fruit and a bottle of vodka to calm me down.
The minister came up to see me to make sure I was ok, and it helped to know that he was there to comfort me and listen to me that little bit.
My nerves were racing and in walked my flower girls. I had make them buckets and I decorated them in flowers and ribbons. They were filled with rose petals. Those 2 walked up and down the room "prac-icin". Arguing about what foot goes first and so on. It was hillarious. Much needed laugh came out of that!
But then in walked the wedding planner and said "you ready? it's time for the girls to leave to go downstairs."
I honestly thought I was going to be sick. Everyone went ahead and it was just me and my best friend left int eh room. I closed the door and she said "Lindsey are you ok???" I just started to cry and then we argued about who made who cry because she was balling too! I calmed myself down and it was time to leave the room.

Going down?...
So the girls got into the glass enclosed elevator and headed down to walk the aisle. When it arrived back up I stepped in with my Mom. Oh man I was so lucky that she was understanding because I was soooooooo indesisive about getting in and not getting in and what not.
I watched from above as the girls walked down the aisle. And then I heard Suo Gan (my song) begin and I held onto my Mom for dear life. I totally hyperventalated the whole time. My Mom stood there talking to me but she was just as nervous because she was shaking like a leaf.
So much of that trip down in the elevator was a blur but I do remember my Mom saying "it's ok baby girl, it's ok".
I got to the bottom of the elevator and my planner was there to greet me and fan out my dress. Then my music stopped! I was like "where's the music????" I walked around the corner and then the CD picked back up again THANK GOD! I couldn't have done that in silence!!!
Then I turned and began to see all of my friends and family with their smiling faces. Things began to calm, but all I wanted to do was see Kevin!!!

The walk...
So I walked through a sea of people. The even special ordered me a pink rug because I was so adament that I couldn't have red because it clashed lol ha ha ha!!! I turned that last corner (our aisle weaved around) and in the clearing I could see Kevin. He was way worse then I was. I could see him shaking in his boots from a mile away!
We got to the 3 steps that lead down into the alter and he stood there. My Mom had to kind of call him over because he was so stunned. But my Mom took me hand, kissed Kevin on the cheek, whispered something into his ear, she looked at me and said "bye sweetheart" and off I went.It was all Kevin could do not to ball his eyes out. I saw him biting his lip on several occasions.
But I was at the alter and I had made it without loosing my mind or killing anyone. The hard part was over and I had Kevin by my side for the rest of it!

The Ceremony...
It's funny when I think back now that I don't remember much of anyone I saw when I was walking down the aisle aside from a few people. I see pictures and think "they were sitting there?"
But everyone was seated when Kevin got be back to the alter. I know that the minister had said to hold hands once my flowers were given to my MOH but we managed to still hold on to one another with the big bouquet in the way.
The minister looked at me I took a deep breath and nodded for him to go ahead. My shaking and nervousness seemed to disapear as I held on to Kevin. But when the minister turned and said "do you LESLIE..." Everyone burst out laughing (including the 2 of us) and Kevin and I both turned to hima dn said "Lindsey, Lindsey..." The poor man was soooooooo embarassed that he quickly started to talk on about something else.
Before I knew it he turned to Kevin and he read his vows which he had written for me. Very slowly trying not to crack. I wish I had a copy of them, and I'm sure while we continue to clean up our wedding things I'll find them again. And then it was my turn and I too kept myself calm as I spoke to him. I did however see a few tears drop from his eyes.
It wasn't until the exchange of rings that I lost it emotionally. I had to keep repeating myself because all you could hear was a bumble of tears lol.
And just as we left he read the celtic blessing...
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
The wedding march sounded we kissed for the first time as husband and wife and we headed back up the alter.
However... Remember my cathedral train??? It was almost the death of me. Kevin stepped on it as I was walking up the stairs and if it wasn't for a guest I would have fallen backwards lol.
We headed back around the corner to the limo. We were practically skipping by that point!

The limo Ride after the ceremony...
So what a BLAST! It's really that tiem you remember. In a car with all of your best friends and most importantly your new husband. But we got out to the limo and the driver was MIA! We were in a serious time crunch to get the pics done, and we wanted to get out of there before all the guests started out congratulating us and so on. Because really how do you punk people off after your wedding? You just don't! So fortunatly our driver beat the guests by foot steps literally.
So we all jumped in. Kevin and I in first because really we just wanted to get in together and just snuggle and be all corny like that.
But the champagne opened up and kept being poured. the first time all in Kevin's lap but really who cares.
The music was on (finally someone knew how to work it)and we were on our way to have the pictures done!

Picture Perfect...
So we arrived at the Guild Inn which is a beautiful park near the Scarborough Bluffs. I really didn't want to get all my pictures taken in a garden. It's really just not me to be honest. I like the structural pictures more.
So it was a cold day, a very cold day, the coldest we've had yet this summer or even fall for that matter. The day before it was 26 the day after it was 28 and on my wedding day it was only 15!
I personally didn't feel the cold. I'm nto sure if it was the champagne or the adrenalin running through my veins but I didn't have any problems with the cold. My bridesmaids on the other hand FROZE!
So all the cars pull up with our families and doesn't my uncle who is a Toronto cop get a giant cooler out of the back of his car and start handing out beers to everyone lol. It was great, I think it helped to warm a few people up too.
The picture session was finished soooooooo quickly. I couldn't belive it when we were finished and already on our way back to the hall.
However again, we get back to the limo and 3 guesses who wasn't at his car again? the limo driver!!! Only this time we were already running behind on getting to the reception. The recieving line was already suppose to have began and there was no bridal party to take part in it lol.
But we soon found him and we jetted back across the city to the hall. Kevin and I all the while still snuggling in the back and even more bubblies came out of the wood work!

Finally at the hall, lets get it started...
So we pulled up to the hall and RAAAAAAAN inside. While I was in the limo my wedding planner had been calling me asking where we were and so on. I just told him to relax that the car could only go so fast. After all the guests were in a reception room eating app's and drinking and socializing.
It was really liek a flash of light as I ran throught he reception room into the ball room to stand for the recieving line.
It was the first time I was able to see the ballroom all finished. we had decorated the night before but nothing could compare to the finsihed product. Although I will admit that I wasn't impressed that my wedding planner changed my design for the centrepieces. He thought something else would look better, and it didn't. My floating candles were ditched and the lily was mostly out of the water. Everyone liked them but I will admit that I was disapointed.
Everybody lined up on the dance floor to greet our guests. The FG's were the funniest though. They stood there and shook everyones hands. Kevin's daughter even shook hands with people, gave her full name, told them she was the daughter and told them to have a wonderful evening lol. As soon as we got passed all the guests and trust me it was difficult when some of them really wanted to have a good chit chat and there is another 100 peopel behind them we went out of the room to be announced.
The family and the bridal party entered the room tot he Merry Melodies theme song, and Kevina nd I entered to TNT by ACDC because after all we're now TandT lol. I thought it was funny, I don't think a fraction fot he guests even got it lol.
We sat down for dinner which was great, and then the speeches began. The speeches are also fabulous. My favorite was my Mom's speech which was sappy yet very funny and she did a powerpoint presentation as well of Kevin and I through the years.

Lets Party!...
The DJ started off the night with the centrepiece giveaways. He played the Chicken dance and everyoen had to stand up and pass around a card. Watching some of our more "posh" guests dance to the chicken dance was priceless!
Then Kevin and I were up... We danced to Frozen Ghost's "Dream Come True". I was so nervous dancing because of my foot. I had already ditched the heels and I was in flip flops that I had bought the day before so it made it a little easier, but it also made me A LOT shorter! I was stepping all over my dress.
Then it was my Mom and I dancing the Mommy daughter dance. we danced to Josh Grobin's "You Raise Me up". We couldn't even play the whole song because she was balling her eyes out and it was a LONG song!!!
Kevin and his Mom danced to Abba's "Fernando". Why I'm still not sure but they had fun. Kevin's Mom used to be a disco dancer so they partied it up pretty hard ont eh dance floor.
The attendents danced to Lionel Richie's "All Night Long". It was so funny, they all just goofed around and it really set the mood for the rest of the night. Halfway throught he song guests jumped in and it was PARTY time!!!!!
As soon as the dancing started the DJ announced our big suprise... We had ordered pink cotton candy and pink popcorn machines for everyone to enjoy!!!! Just to stick to the theme of pink. However the cotton candy was BLUE NOT PINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Knowone really cared they just enjoyed the fact that we had cotton candy complete with a girl to serve it! Everyone pigged right out. Not to mention the suprise of everyoen to see the machines.

SUPRISE OF THE CENTURY.............
So the party was dying down, the sweet table had been served and it was after midnight. Kevin was goign to go and take his tux off and give it to a groomsmen because we were going to be so busy the next day leaving for our honeymoon and so on.
He had just reached the room to get changed and someone called him back in. I was shmoozing out in the hall and I got called back in. All the lights went out and a few twinkle strobes were flashing. The waitstaff were lining the walls and the song mission impossible started.
The doors to the catering doors opened into the hall and a white superstretch limo drove into the ballroom!!!!!!!!!! I'm serious I was sooooooo in shock. Kevin and I had NO IDEA! The driver got out of the car and announced that he was there to pick us up and drive us to our honeymoon suite. I almost dropped me drink. Our sneaky BP had gathered up ALL of our belongings and was already loading them into the trunk.
I gahtered up the rest of my stuff and gave it to the driver. We made our final rounds to our guests and said goodbye. The BP all lined the car for a few pictures and it was time to leave. Our wedding was finished, and really we went out with a bang.
I still remember my Mom standing at the door waving good bye and everyoen cheering as we exited.
What a day, what a night and now I'm married to my best friend.
The next day we were off to Cuba for our honeymoon.
And we lived happily ever after! xoxoxo
