when I was searching for a ring for myself, I learned a lot about the different choices out there and collected a ton of bookmarks and it occurred to me that maybe all of this information could help other guys, so I made a wiki describing the different choices out there. check it out if you're interested:

Very nice!
The only thing I'd suggest is maybe a picture reference for each style ^-^!

Very nicely done :whoohoo: ! For some reason picture not only offer good example but also help keep the attention of most guys I know. (Example: the FH who I will be making read this, hehe.)

And you're right, most guys -don't- think about their ring. "Well I got her one! That's what matters, right?"

I know, when I started looking for a ring I asked all of my married friends if I could see their ring. every single one was a plain silver or white gold band. I just want the one ring I'll ever wear to be a tad more unique.

Unique is good :) Classic is never bad though. I think FH has decided on plain white gold, with a pounded matte type look. SImilar to the style of the "artisan" ring picture you have up.
