Hey! My finace' and I have a minor dilemma.

We with both be 20 when we are married (I will be nearly 21, not that it really matters... "almost" is not equal to...). We are both pretty mature, don't party (i.e. drink) but EVERYWHERE we are looking within driving distance that is nice to stay requires you to be 21 (because they serve wine at a reception at night). This has been a major bummer to me, because the place I was looking at for a few days and got very excited about have this same policy...

We also are not old enough to rent a car in the U.S, so although we could fly somewhere in the U.S, if we did, we would be unable to get around.

SO, here is my question:
Is there anywhere either:
a)within driving distance (4 or so hrs max) of Charlotte, NC that would be fun for a honeymoon
OR
b)not driving distance (we'd fly), but a lot of things within walking distance (restaurants, etc)

Thanks in advance... you all are always tons of help!

Is public transportation an option? It seems like any big city that has a decent transit system would be an option. What about NYC? You definitely don't need a car to have a great time there. Disney comes to mind as well. Also, anyplace on a nice beach w/ good weather would be such a paradise that you wouldn't want to leave much anyways!

I'll have to brainstorm and see if I can think of anywhere in particular for ya.

Please check on this because i know with the hotel thing it usually does not count if you are a married couple. IE- when you go on alot of cruises you must be 21 to go without an adult UNLESS your a married couple.

Worth a check :)

Also, i have rented many cars before i was of age :) they just charge you 12bucks a day or sometimes less :)

Here's a site about car rental that you may find helpful.

Thanks for the link! Unfortunately, it is still off limits at all big rental places for under 21... I will be so close, too, which is no fun!

I am trusted with lives, but I cannot drive a rental car?!? (I am a nurse and have been since I was 19)

Also, we called the hotel to double check before I posted this, because I knew the thing as well with cruises. They confirmed that nobody under 21 is allowed...

We are still looking around keep ideas coming!

Ya know I just realized that article mentions the company Rent A Wreck. I wrecked my car when I was 18 and now that I think about it, I rented a car from them. You might want to see if a location near you does that. If there is a location near you, that is! Good luck with this. I know how frustrating it can be!

what about flying to another spot and taking a 2 or 3 day cruise then :) If you fly to FL you can take a day cruise to the bahamas and stay in the bahamas for a couple days and then take a day cruise back to fl and fly back home - There are tons of hotels that will let you stay here (fl) under 21 so staying for a night should be no problem. or fly to another close port for a 2 or 3 day cruise. I think RC cruise lines have specials once in a while - like 299 or less pp total with port charges and everything for 3 -4 days - plus if you could drive or find a cheap flight to a port

I don't know if this is something the 2 of you would enjoy but what about driving to a cabin type place and staying there?

NYC also sounds like a lot of fun and you can DEFINITELY get around on public transit. Also, if you book and pay for hotels online the age thing hardly ever comes up. I did it plenty before I was 21.

I've visited Boston and that's really easy to get around without a car too, you can pretty much take the T anywhere.

Jonathan and I have stayed at many hotels without being 21. Before he was 21, he was a Marriott Rewards member, and before I was 21 I booked a 5 night stay in VA Beach at a Marriott resort without a problem.

Disney also has some wonderful packages for honeymooners that include meal vouchers and its really easy to get around the resort without having your own car. I think they even have free shuttle from the airport (though I'm not sure).

It seems to me that if you are married that some things just would not apply. Have you tried calling a well respected travel agent? That is what I would do! They would know better than anyone.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. We can book hotels though... that's not the issue (thank goodness, or we'd be in big trouble!).

Have you thought about trying to find a sell off somewhere like Mexico? I knwo that most of it is 18 and you could find it pretty cheap.
