Anyone from South Florida ? (BROWARD, DADE OR PALM BEACH COUNTY) ?? Im trying to find venues that are not a ridiculous amount of money- but it seems impossible I have one that i like but its alot of work as they dont provide anything for the tables or chairs- and the cocktail hour really bothers me. Its in a HALLWAY- and there are no tables!!! its very very weird!! and i asked if i could move it b/c i didnt like that its right in front of the FRONT DOOR and its right in front of the reception hall. They said no- even though there are about 200 other places they can have it. They wouldnt even seperate the room for me- :( but i really love this place b.c it would mean i could get married in a theater like i have always wanted! Ugh- did anyone else feel discouraged with venues?

I have no idea about any places in Florida. Sorry! I still have a few issues with my venue, but the positives outweight the negatives for me so overall I'm still happy with it. If the cocktail hour is going to bother you really bad then don't even consider this place anymore. It will eat away at you!

Well first off..how many ppl are u inviting? what is your budget? these are things you need to know, having a cocktail hour in hallway doesn't sound very pleasing.

The people is bout 150- we are looking to spend no more then 70pp including food beverage open bar) and cake and venue if possible. (we actually want tax icluded as that is the deal the place i love gave us)I have seen it but its in really bad neighborhoods- we want it to be at a nice place. for a 30k wedding i think it needs to be somewhere decent. I have a bid out right now with different hotels but who knows when i will hear back.
Yes, the cocktail hour in a hallway is very upsetting- its a gorgeous venue and its all windows so they think that the view is pleasing, but i have explained to the women if we can move the cocktail hour, i will sign that day that its in writing. I said you know what i will have right in the underpass of the building (it has very tall statues and everything- you cant tell its a walkway- its huge and beautiful with a big clock on the building like you see on towers.) She has told me no and i ask why- she doesnt give me a reason. Says "that just where they like the cocktail hour' They are not rude about it or anything but its not very accomodating. The problem is, the hallway is large and all but there are no tables and i would have to bring them in and everything.. THat just seems ridiculous!!!! thanks for letting me turn this kind of into a vent too :)

I'm from South Florida and if I were you, I would stick with that place if they're giving you $70/pp. The prices down here are very expensive and you won't find much down here for that price (I'm actually surprised you found something that cheap!) Good luck!

I am not from FL. But I can relate. Jon and I must have looked at 30 some places. I had always wanted to get married on a beach, in the sand, which is NOT common in MA. Don't settle! You have plenty of time, I am sure you will find the place you have always dreamed of. On another note, 70pp that includes open bar is a great price, at least from where I am from. I am paying 90pp and this does not included bar, and this is considered middle of the road pricing for MA. Be glad you don't live here. :frogg:

Yah its an awesome deal- i mean i dont know how the food is or anything but its very pretty too- the only thing that bothers me is that hallway thing - it really irks me!!
its a city owned building so thats why its so cheap but eveyrhting else is wayy over 100pp
