Hello Everyone,
I am brand new and I just wanted to take the time to tell my story and introduce myself to all of you. My name is Angel, I am a 24-year-old soon-to-be married Children's Protective Services Worker from Michigan. My FH is Joel and he is also my best friend. We have been together for a little over three years, and we've been engaged for just under one. We are getting married on 9/15/2006.
Joel and I met a little over three years ago when we were both still in college and working at a mortgage company that our friends grandparents owned. When we met I had just gotten out of a four year relationship with my ex-fiance. I definitely was not expecting to find anything serious that soon. Joel on the other hand had only been in one slightly serious relationship in his whole life, and that had ended over two years previously. So...needless to say, we were both caught off guard. Well when we met, I could not help but fall for his eyes, they are the most awesome blue color, and since her has dark hair and all that...and long eyelashes..I was a goner. Anyways, we were at the company Holiday Party (me with a date) and we got to talking. I come from a pretty, for lack of a better term, nonambitious and undereducated family, as well as an area where most of my friends and family never completed high school or really went very far, so when I met him and he had the same type of ambitions as me and was educated and had interests, etc., I was finally intellectually stimulated. Well, about a week after the party I asked him when he was going to ask me out. That was on a Friday and he said, "how about Tuesday", so I said yes. Well, Monday came, and I guess we just couldn't wait, because we went to lunch together and then went out Christmas shopping and to dinner after work. We still ended up going out on Tuesday, and I met the parents and sister then too, a little awkward, and he introduced me to his best friend and his gf, as "his girlfriend". Well, I liked the sound of that and realized that it was just right, even though we hadn'y even kissed yet. Anyways, I rambling, we;ve been together since.
Joel and I have lived together since six months after we got together, basically because I was still in college and my older brother threw me out, so I had no where to go. I moved in with him, at his parents (again awkward), and things actually went well. His mother is one of the greatest people you will ever meet, his sister is great as well, his dad, brother and future SIL could use some improvement, but no family is perfect, and next to mine..well anyways that's a whole new soap opera. We have now lived on our own for almost two years..and things couldn't be better..he is still my prince charming.
Last December I got layed off, indefinitely, and had to start looking for a new job. We were really tight on money and all I was getting is unemployment. One week in the beginning of January I went to Indiana to visit my aunt, who was having a very difficult time. My younger brother had been visiting from Colorado, so I took him with me. By the end of that week I was losing my mind, my aunt and my brother had pretty much driven me crazy, and I was ready to come home. Joel had been promising me all week that he was going to cook me a home made dinner and that we were going to spend the evening together. I had just driven all the way back from Indiana and was dropping my younger brother off at my older brother's house, when I realized that I had a voicemail on the cell phone. It was Joel, saying that he ahd been to his mom's for dinner the night before and that he had been feeling sick all day, so he had come home from work early. He wnated me to call him and let him know when I was close to kome, so that he could get up and try to cook dinner. I called him, and he sounded horrible, so I told him not to worry about it and that he could just cook for me when he feels better. I was disappointed. Anyways, so I drive home, smelling like a carton of cigarettes from my aunt's house, and when I open the door there is a path of red and pink rose petals, red and pink roses and pink and white candles running all the way from the door, around the corner and into the bedroom. Before the turn into the bedroom there was a sheet of paper that he had typed out. I read it, and it was a beautiful declaration of his love for me. I did not realize until the end that it was a proposal (which is exactly how he set it up) and I rounded the corner, where the path continued, and at then end he was knelt down on one knee, dressed in a black suit and tie, on a black pillow, holding a ring box. By this time I was in tears. He asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes. I then took a shower to get rid of the cigarette smell, we went to his parents to show and tell, and then went out to dinner at a restaurant wher ehe had made reservations. It was beautiful and perfect.
Now we have been planning a weding that we have to pay for ouselves and are spending way too much money on...but anyways. We have found the ceremony and reception site, gotten my dress, found the dj, gotten the favors, picked our attendants, and gotten the card box/wishing well. I still feel like I have not done anything. I was trying to fiqure out how to attach photos or insert them, but I have not been able to do so yet, so I attached the link to the ceremony/reception site, if anyone is interested in checking it out...it is way too expensive, but it is beautiful and we fell in love with it.
