we have these cute little boes with our names and the date on it and I'm making a bonbon to go into each one. I figure I wanted something people could use or eat cause I hate clutter and junk and throw it away and if other people were going to do that with the favor, I didn't want to waste my money!

see this was my thought exactly, i keep stuff but i am a pack rat, i thought most people would throw it away and all my hard work and money would just be wasted...something thay can eat... interesting idea.
I am not completely sure exactly what I'm doing for a favor yet, but basically it's going to be a bag of tea along w/ something edible like a scone or cookie. I'm also going to incorporate these in there:

My mom helped make the crosses for my cousins wedding years ago and she had over 170 of them left over. My mom has since passed on so this is very special to me.
My favor is tied in w/ my Victorian Afternoon Tea theme as well as my color scheme.

Oh my I have been throwing around that question for a month. I am looking for something unisex ya know. I went to a wedding once and noticed not one man picked up any of the favors.

We did glass coasters with a frosted leaf on them for our favors.
As for a unisex gift, I have been to a wedding where they actually did picture frames for the women and a deck of cards for the guys. I thought that was neat.

I bought my favor boxes, but still have no clue what I'm going to put in them. :bblol:
We're doing the photobooth, though, and the pictures will have our names and the wedding date on them. That's our MAIN favor and was originally going to be our only one.

I ordered them online. I'll have to look to see if I still have the site saved. They had leaf ones and also heart ones. I was at a wedding recently where they have coasters that had a spot to slide a picture in too.

I'm doing edible favors. I'm sending the adults home with small bottles of wine and the kids (and non drinking adults) home with small bottles of sparkling cider and I'm making chocolate boxes with small bite sized chocolates inside. I just need to decide which boxes I want to use, I even found red chocolate so I can make them in red and white chocolate to go with my colors. And any that I have left over will make great Valentines since it's so close to the holiday :whoohoo: Here are some links for a few of the boxes I'm considering. I love that the box is made out of chocolate so they get to eat that too

The good thing about the molds is that you can reuse them quite a few times and you can make them a little bit ahead of time as long as you have a cool dry place to keep them
I'll probably do little bags of candy with it too since there's so little room inside the box. I don't have the links with me to the various bite size molds for the inside candy but I'll post them later. You can also do a search on ebay for bite size chocolate molds and you'll find a ton of them. I like the tiny little bride and grooms and the little ones that say thank you on them.

Our DYI wedding favours - 3 butterfly note cards & envelopes, tied with ribbon and decorated with a seed paper butterfly.
We found the images online, printed them and glued them to raised panel of the card stock. There were reallly supposed to be 4 cards per pack but we ran out of card stock and it was too late to order more. :) We also gave little flower design boxes filled with mints, with an origami butterfly attached.

Cheap and easy. You can buy the high quality, royalty free, photos from http://www.bigstockphoto.com/ for $1 each. I think we got the seed favours from ebay and we got the card stock by trading but I have seen boxes of cards & envelopes (meant to be invites) at Michaels.

I will have to take a picture of my favors, but they are glass votive holders that hang by beach rope and are adorned with shells. (Christimas tree shoppes for $1.67 each) These will also serve as my place cards. The guest will pick up their favors and there will be a card on them that says thank you with the table they sit at. I am now working out way to display them. I think I am going to construct a "beach fence" and put that on a long table (with L brackets on the back to help it stand on its own) and hang the favor off the pickets.

I am doing coozies (Can holders) with our logo, name and date on them. It is a pretty good idea for anyone who serves alcohol (esp. if you are offering beer in cans) b/c in your candid photos at the reception you won't see a ton of people holding beer cans. I found a website that offers them for pretty cheap to.... only .69 cents.
Below is an example, but not the one we are using.

awe, thank you, i dont have any info as of now, we arnt getting married until may 2009 so we dont have many things set... i am working with the number of 150 guest, but that is just guessing. we do not have a theme and it is driving me nuts. our colors are lime green and dark brown. maybe some purple thrown in here and there... ive gotta nothing. laughs.

Well, you have your colors! So that's a start! I'll see what I can find just based on the colors and maybe some of the favors will inspire you with a theme. ;)

Well, actually, lol, after looking....most things are spring themed stuff - like butterflies and flowers. And I'm not sure that's what you are really looking for. If FH didn't like "The perfect pair" idea, he probably wouldn't want the girly spring stuff either. LOL!
Umm. I did see something neat in my search where a couple did like a "Citrus" theme, using lime green, orange and lemon yellow. There's alot you can do with that and it's different. But that might not be your cup of tea either.
Once you guys narrow it down a little bit, I'm sure everyone here will be more than happy to help you figure things out. I know they've all helped me!

To be honest, we are doing everything for like unde 2.00 pp- we are ordering our bell placecard holders on ebay- we figured even if they throw them out, they will be used for the wedding. Go look in my journal (dont know how to post a link to it) and see what my favors are and the breakdown of price and everything.

We're doing practical "favors."
We got the individual packs of kleenex and wrapped ribbon around them and attached a cute saying to the ribbon.
Then, we're also doing customized water bottles. I got the idea from a bridal magazine. But rather than ordering them through the knot (way expensive), we bought cases of Sam's water (at Walmart), took off the Sam's label, and put our own label on there with a clear label to "seal" it. We sampled two this last weekend at the game and discovered that in ice, no matter how sealed, colored ink (but not black) runs. So we're printing the labels (with our monogram) in black. I may attach ribbon to the bottles too. We'll see.
I need to get FH to take pics of everything!
Each place setting will have a pack of kleenex and people can take the water as they're leaving to go to the game. I figured, even if we have a bunch left over, we'd still use the kleenex and use the water throughout football season. So not a waste.

My favors are doubling as my centerpieces. I am using swarovski crystals on a rotating ornament tree (without the ornaments). We are putting candles and rose petals underneath the tree so that the crystals sparkle. I am hanging the crystals from fishing string and tieing a ribbon above the crystal. We are putting up little tent cards that say. PLease take a crystal so that you may find love under your own rainbow.

I don't think I can post pics yet but for our favor we made a donation to Breast Cancer Research and so we're giving each guest a Breast Cancer Awareness bracelet and we attached a card saying that we donated money and put a little poem and our names and dates... I love them because even if people forget to take them, or don't use them, the money that we spent on them still went to a good cause! :)

I love candy buffets. I am not sure if you already have something... but I went to a wedding a few months back and they had one and the cutest thing to me. In the center of the table was a framed card in a pretty silver frame that said, "Your presence is the sweetest gift of all".

I absolutely LOVE the idea of a candy buffet, but I just want to warn some of you to at you may want to check with your function facility before getting too deep into planning a candy buffet. I was ALL excited about this as my favor, started to plan it and come up with ideas when I was informed by my wedding coordinator that its not allowed because of "health concerns". She said that MAYBE they would consider it if it were all individually packaged candies, but to me that takes away from the pretty candy in the jars. But then again my function hall is VERY concerned about everything and won't even let me have disposable cameras on the tables for everyone to take pics of and then we will have them developed. They said the only way we could do that is if we put each camera in a gift bag--but then people woudl think they're a gift, and they're not! ahhhh!
So anyways, there is my word of advice for everyone looking into doing a candy buffet!

Yah your venue would drive me crazy- i think i understand places not letting you have candles- but i think no candy buffet for safety/health concerns. they would kind of have to explain that to me too. and also- they might have to explain the camera gift bags- what if you put the cameras in a gift bag for each of your BM and made them hand them out? it would be gift to the bm and they would be sharing!! see i would find every way to get around this!!! hahah

Lauren- thats an awesome picture- not too over the top like some i have seen- I mean i think over the top is incredible if its your fvors. but i have been looking for a downplayed version of the candy buffet cuz i picture something completely different then the norm, and this is kind of it-
I want to just display like 5 jars of different candy in cool vases and canisters- have some petals and candles on the table to fill space but i dont want like 10 or 11 different candies and i have seen some people put individual wrappped rice krispies as their favors on the table too (which is very cute if it was your favor - some people might want to think about it!!!) and whole candy bars- (which i think might be a BIT expensive :) )
either way- thanks for this pic lauren, its what i was looking for.
Where did everyone get their candy buffett vases? I have beenn picking them up as i go?

The wedding I went to used all white candies in pretty clear containers and it was sooo beautiful! She used white M&M's, rock candy (which was a beautiful display), those white almonds, white choc. dipped pretzels and more.

I am thinking in doing a candy buffet too... how, in the wedding you went, did they use it?? I mean was it visible as soon as the reception started?? When did people started taking the candy?? was there an anouncement?? or was it available at all times!????

OMG that is soooo pretty Lauren! Are you doing that?? Yum yum!
Nope! I wish though b/c it is a beautiful display. But we are going to have coozies as our favors and we are also having an ice cream cart and table filled with toppings. Our most fav. thing in the world is ice cream! (We eat it ALLLL the time) so we are planning on having an ice cream cart with someone to scoop and serve!

It was pretty much visible the whole time. But it was set up beside the door where you enter and exit. It was kinda obvious that it was the favor b/c they had a little shelf above the table that held tiny boxes stamped with there logo for you to put the candies in. It was also set away from the food and the cakes. We took some when we left, but there were a few people who would just grab a stick of rock candy and were munching on it during. But it was no big deal.

Wow, I had never even heard of doing a candy buffet before I got here... :) I'm pretty excited about my planned favors if they work out. Since we're having a red/summer wedding, I finally settled on fruit as a kind-of-theme (raspberries, strawberries, cherries!). It ties in nicely with the colors and I can have little scented votives as favors, although I was thinking also that if we can afford it I'd like to get some chocolate-covered fruit and put that on the tables as well. Probably chocolate-covered raspberries and blackberries as FH wants black in the wedding colors (personally I don't want too much of it) and blackberries would be great for that. Plus there's so much potential for cheesy "fruitful lives" type sayings! :D

I absolutly LOVE chocolate fountains! I mean, evertime I see one at a wedding ... I have to restrain myself from sticking my face in it! (I totally would if no one was watching).
They ARE messy but they are always a huge hit! I would suggest to BUY a tablecloth for this table though. You don't want to rent one and have it stained and have to pay more than it was worth.

I'll have to get a pic of it when I get home but we made made and bottled it and bagged it. Ont he lid we placed a monogram sticker and my Grandmother made little pink bags, we tied them and place d acard on it. We had so many compliments on them. We had absolutly knowone leave theirs behind! I was shocked!!!

so far for our candy buffet we have gotten these tall vases for the licorice (dollar store- got 4) and a giant margarita glass at walmart- on clearence, it had a chip on the bottom in the glass so we got it for likr 2$ :) its huge- we are putting M&Ms in it- then we got 4 reg. size margarita glasses to put jelly beans in - two will have red jellybeans and two will have black ( 4 diff flavors) and those with be all around the bottom of the giant glass-) We are going to have 2 other candies and so far i have 1 other cool fishbowl vase i got from the dollar store :) - Spent a total of like 7$ or 8$ on my vases so far and im almost done- The candy will be expensive im sure, but i will just try to reember the money i saved on the vases :)
anyone know about how much they spent on candy for the candy buffet?

We are also donating to a charity, I picked the NYC Garden Program (http://www.nyc.gov/html/nycha/html/c...y/garden.shtml (http://www.nyc.gov/html/nycha/html/community/garden.shtml)) because we live here and I love gardening... they supply seeds and plants to adults and children to plant in some of the city's "green spaces". We're going to have burgundy organza bags ($.19/bag) filled with wildflower seeds (you can buy a jug of them for less than $20 at walmart), with two tags tied on them. One will have our names and the date on the front and planting instructions on the back, and the other will say "A Donation was made on your behalf to the NYC Garden Program" with their website and maybe a little blurb about it and our names and the date on the back.
And whatever gets left behind I will empty into my own garden ;)

For one favor we are also doing a candy buffet. One of the best buys I have had is at Walmart they had bags of Brest Cancer Awareness M&Ms for just a few dollars a bag (18 oz ea) in multiple colors of pink. It was a heck of a lot cheaper than buying them online for 9 dollars a pound, and they help benefit breast cancer research!:hi:
PS- I think the check out lady thought I was nuts for buying about 20 bags of these:whoa:

We're having lots of different favors!
We've decided to make 4 chocolate truffles for each person there. They each will be a different flavor - chocolate/chocolate, chocolate/coconut, chocolate/toffee, chocolate/crushed almonds. We found the recipe for them in Bride's magazine and its soooo easy to make a lot of them!
We're also making those hershey kiss rosebuds, each guest will have one tucked into their napkin at dinner. They are a little tricky to make but if anyone wants to know how to make them, I can give you the link. This is what they look like:http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a206/luv2cheer717/Wedding/hersheykissfavor.jpg
We also ordered matchbooks with our name and wedding date on them. They were really inexpensive and since we're doing a sparkler exit, they will serve a dual purpose.

I thought of melting Reeses chips and dipping the marshemllow in that, allowing it to dry and then dipping that in chocolate. Mmmm.

My FH and I are planning on going with a candy buffet but all chocolate items and each container that the chocolate candies are in will have the item name and a little saying, we are thinking of having chinese take out style boxes with little thanks you in it.... and I know my mother wants to have a gift on the table for each person too....
I was also thinking since I am having like 4-6 red votives on the table that I could have a little thing on the table mentioning that they can take them.. I mean really.. where am I going to put or use over 150 red votives after the wedding...

I am doing this at the end of the reception since it will be dark then and it will flow better that way. We had to order 36" sparklers because they can take some time to get lit, and with 200 guests, it will be a long send of (they are lining up and basically making a path for us to get to our limo. The normal sparklers only last about 1 minute and 30 seconds so in this case bigger really is better.

Since our guests are only immediate family, grandparents, and my best friend, I thought it would be silly to give them "favors", anything like candy, bubbles, coasters, whatever. I don't know what my 14 year old sister would do with a set of coasters :)
So, since part of our theme is tree (with bare branches... yes, in the middle of the summer... I just think bare trees are the MOST beautiful things!)... we're going to have a vase full of branches that we're going to collect this winter. On the branches we're going to hang ribbons in our colors (brown and teal). The ends of the ribbons will have a little clip of some sort holding a teeny envelope (different colors), one for each person who's coming. Inside the teeny envelope will be a handwritten note from the both of us, saying how important that person is to us, and thank them for coming.
That way it'll be something that they'll really cherish and not shove in a drawer somewhere. :) Plus, it's next to free, and you can't beat that!

Sorry I forget not everyone is on the same train as me. Transportation Security Administration. They occasionally open your luggage and rummage through it and leave a little note with there logo saying they did. I figured since the favor boxes I have are little suitcases (semi-travel theme) that might be kinda cute. To have the TSA logo on top, but "kisses from the mister and misses" written on the note.

I am a photographer and have been trying to think of some way to incorperate my love of photography into the wedding. This is perfect. I showed the idea to my hubby and he loves it as well. I am going to take my own photos in black & white and attach them to the note cards. Everyone's will be different. I think we will probably just they the ribbon in a bow with a thank you card attached instead of the butterfly. Thank you for giving me this idea. I love it.

I've been planning to have my wedding on the beach of Pensacola so a beach theme is very important for me. I wan't every single detail to be reminiscent of a beach theme.
I bought "really nice" favors for my wedding, they are by Kate Aspen. And if anyone knows Kate Aspen, you know that she's a bit expensive but they are gorgeous. Let me tell you about my loop hole, ebay!! lol. When purchasing on there, be careful to buy from someone with a great feedback rating 99 or 100% and from someone who has an ebay store (they tend to have better customer service).
I bought mine from Elegant Whispers Gifts Store and saved a ton on my favors (elegantwhispersgifts). And my favors are even more gorgeous than pictured. Good luck to all the brides - be careful of who trust your wedding to - its' a once in a lifetime event - plan it carefully. :flower:

We are making a charitable contribution in lieu of traditional wedding favors. I have seen it at a few other weddings and it was well accepted by all the guests. With traditional wedding favors, many guests don’t take them and I personally feel it ends up being a waste of money. At least with a donation you know your money is going to good use.
My fiancé and I are donating to the Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation at UCLA. They are a great organization and they made it really easy to donate. They are also providing us with favor cards that we can use at our reception. So that way guests do have something tangible to take with them. Check them out at: cancer.ucla.edu

I am doing an assortment of favors since I am saving elsewhere. We are going to have vanilla and raspberry votives (red and white), matchbooks (silver with red writing) with 2 hearts on them (candles and matches are doubling as decorations too) Bigger gift bags that have hearts on them on each chair with the following in them: heart shaped notepad says "two hearts uniting as one", silver rubber pencils tied in a knot that say "we tied the knot", the kisses from mister and mrs, and our game sheets (since we playing games). I got some small white boxes and I am thinking of putting something in them just not sure what. Since we are doing a laid back food and games reception I wanted to class it up a bit so everyone gets a gift bag like celebrities get. I might get some rose petal soaps and put in the gift boxes. (that just came to me.....) I know i am going a little overboard with the gift things but That is what i like to do. I always give as gifts =bags with all kinds of practical things and usually everyone loves all the little things i find.
We are going to do lotto tickets, and I've actually been trying to think of some type of clever poem to go with them...
Since we are lucky in love,,,,we hope???
I have place card holders that are mini rose pots/bouquets that I'm going to put the lotto ticket on, instead of a a name card.
I bought little clear plastic swans, but I have no idea what to put in them yet. I received little boxes, w/ tulle and a tie already on them, and I'm clueless what to fill w/those as well! Suggestions would be much appreciated!

Along with the votives I have scattered around the hall for decoration, at each place setting I will have the following box:

Inside will be a spoon with hershey kisses inside wrapped with cellophane:

They will have attached the poem:
We thank you for coming
With a spoonful of kisses...
To bless our beginning
As Mr. and Mrs!
The box will be filled with tulle in our wedding colors :D

I've finally sat down and cut out 50 nine inch tulle circles and 50 eleven inch circles from the underskirt train of a Wedding Dress i butchered for my own dress. The tulle is in Ivory. (The main underskirt i sprayed Black and is in the DIY section under "My Ultimate DIY)
All i've got to do now is put the sugared almonds in nearer to the Wedding date because i dont want them to go off. Tie a piece of Black ribbon round them with a label with our names and date on and Ta-Da 50 Favours that cost £12 to make, £10 for a kilo of almonds and £2 for the ribbon. :D

I really love the idea with the favor 'boxes/bags' with the spoon, tulle, and kisses with attatched poem on it. It looks really easy to DIY and not too expensive, either. I'm looking at a guest list of 130-150. How much do u think that runs per person?

I bought "really nice" favors for my wedding, they are by Kate Aspen. And if anyone knows Kate Aspen, you know that she's a bit expensive but they are gorgeous.
I bought these as gifts for my bridesmaids and other important women in the family. These are made by Kate Aspen, too. I came across them and just loved 'em so much I went ahead and ordered them. I got them in the mail earlier this week and they're just as cute in person! :D

I dont know if someone has started a thread yet or not, but what are/was everyones wedding favors... i dont know that i like the idea and i have come up with nothing.
pictures are always appreciated! :nosey:
I think a picture in with the thank you card is more then adquate for a wedding favor. That is what we are doing.

My favors are one Lindt Lindor Truffle (mine and Jon's favorite candy) and one Bailey's Irish Creme Truffle (because I'm part Irish). I put them in a little box, designed labels using a graphic of our wedding flower-orchid, and tied a black bow around them. I am also giving out bubbles, which have a matching black bow. I plan to make clear labels for them but I haven't gotten the labels yet.

Thanks for your reply, I love Lindt truffles too so I may steal that from you also. We haven't set a date yet or even chosen colors, so I'll have to wait a bit to figure the rest out but that's a great idea! Rex has been married before but I haven't so we're kinda at odds as to what type of wedding to have and where, but I know in the end I will get what I want...shhhh... lol!
Have a great day!

You can also get coozies for bottles! I have been to a birthday party and those were the favors. I still used mine and its been 2 years. :)

I love sparkler exits, they always look awesome and I love fireworks. Sky lanterns are great for anyone who wants fireworks but can't have an actual display at their location.

Ok, mine is kind of funny but when FH was trying to talk to me I was stand offish and told him I had a titanium bubble and dont like ppl in my space, he told me from the start he would pop it. Well its clear he has. lol We are having a black, ivory, and red 40s glam wedding so for our favor will serve two purposes, one as a favor and two as a place card. We will have 4in. silver mint julep cups (plastic since we are on an Army budget) with a small bottle of bubbles (in a tool bag so no one can see what they are... more so they are not tacky) and a silver bubble wand. I will tie a red ribbion to a tag with the persons name on it. So he is looking for bubble wands 5in long in bulk and he will spray them crome. I was also considering putting the bubble solution in maybe a cheap lil glass corked jar. any ideas, Input or web sites for these things in bulk would be awesome. THANKS!!
