Okay i have the Bridal bargains book and im addicted to reading it and highlighting and all that fun stuff- anyway i have alot of stuff picked out and done for the wedding including the dress, flower girl kissing ball, placecard holders both officiants (having a rabbi and a priest) etc- however, i am having heck of a time trying to find a venue and a ceremony spot. sOO- everyone has been at me to pick a place but i have till the beginning of 09 so i am giving myself a nov deadline to pick- either way its driving me nuts not being able to find a place so while reading i came across a section that said - contact your local cvb (Conventions and vistor bereaus) Well i didnt think to ever do this but the girl said there are wedding coordinators there and you can tell them what you want to pay and they will put out a bid for you to a bunch of places and let them counter back or accept and go from there- well last night i emailed them and this morning got a prompt email back telling me they would be happy to help and that they would contact me about all my specifics today and send out the bid by the morning. Now i dont know if i will use this but its amazing and i hope it helps another bride somewhere along the way. I let them know that i dont care what month as long as its not feb and as long as my price quote can be met without over inflating. i even told them the TOTAL on the venue/food and beverage i will pay. I told my cousin about this and she said when she was planning her wedding she was quoted 99.00 on just food per person at a place and she did something like this but with her wedding planner and she wound getting the same place for 68.00 per person including open bar. Personally i think its awesome for everyone b/c the hotels fill their vacant months and we brides save-
If someone doesnt already have this book, i suggest it. Its got corners to cut that i wouldnt have thought of and other brides accounts- it also has a gret guide on buying dresses online and stuff. :) and really great resources
