Head piece and veil

Hi all so I'm putting my hair in an updo, but I was wondering with the headpiece I'm wearing I'm wondering should I put the veil at the top of my hair or underneath. Also after mass should the veil stay on at the reception?

It really depends on what YOU want to do..Is the headpiece a bunlet? if so i wouls suggest you putting you ahir through it..Now if it is a comb or a tiara,, that is soully upto you my dear..

Paula, with up do's, I personally like the look of the veil under the do. Maybe when you have your trial run the stylist can show you it with both, just bring th veil with you. Or, just put your hair in a bun and try out both ways yourself. It's not the true effect but it will give you an idea!

Definitely bring it all with you and decide on which one you like better (over or under).

As far as keeping the veil on, that's entirely up to you. I know lots of people who have done it both ways. One said she didn't feel like a bride without it, another said she was afraid she'd sit on it. It's your own choice as far as that goes...there isn't any etiquette that says one way or another.

The other girls are right. You are just going to have to work with your stylist on the best place to put your veil. I am tucking mine under my hair do near the nape of my neck. I prefer that on me. As for the veil, it is totally up to you. How long is it? If it is longer than fingertip length you will probably want to take it off just so you aren't having to carry it all night. Also, take into account how heavy it it. Do you have a lot of beads and pearls? In that case you might want to take it off because of neck strain or headaches. The girl a the bridal store where I bought my veil from also said that people will be putting their hand on your back to congratulate and hug you all night long. That tends to pull on the veil which pulls on the hair.

Ok, after proof reading I think it is pretty evident on which side of the veil debate I am on. But I LOVE the look of a bride floating around the reception hall in her beautiful gown and flowing veil.

I wore my veil tucked into my uphair do....it looked the best and looks great in pictures. BUT, this is a person thing, you need to figure out what looks best and works best for you! As far as leaving the veil on for the reception....Lacey is very right that everytime someone hugs you they pull on your veil, but it didn't really bother me. I also agree that I didn't feel like a bride without it, so all in all, this is something that is a personal choice...you have to do what feels right for you!

Mine will not be sitting directly on top of my head..It will be kind of set back...under I guess is what you would call it. For a full out up-do, I think this looks best. If you were to have a half up half down, you could get away with it being up top. It is however, all a personal choice.

Like many of the other ladies, it is all a personal choice. Maybe when you go to the hair dresser for your "trial run" you can ask him/her to show you both ways. They may have an opinion as to what may look better. And seeing as how he/she have probably done ump-teen numbers of hair-do's, they may see something in a certain way that you don't. But when it all comes down to it, you have to decide what may be more comfortable for you. My hair will be in an up-do and I have a tiara seperate from my veil. My veil goes under my hair with a small comb and is also attached with bobby-pins. Good Luck!!:)

Oh I like both of them!! I think you would put the veil under your hair. But I am no expert. I think there is a pro hairdresser on the board now. Maybe she could help. Whatever you do though I am sure it will be beautiful:D
