I'm Cindy and he's Jeremy, by the way. Hi there. :)
I've never told our story, though I have a boatload of posts here...so I thought I'd do it now.
When I was 29, I wrote a list of things I wanted to do before I turned 30. On that list was "take a swing dance class". I wanted to do east coast swing, but all I could find in my city was west coast swing. I tried for WEEKS to find something.
I found a listing on a website of a studio that did east coast, so I called them. The lady said they didn't have a class yet, but she'd call me if they started a new one. So I forgot all about it.
A few weeks later, I found another one at a different place, went, and HATED IT. Hated it and the people there SOOOOOO much, that I swore to forget all about swing dance.
However, SIX MONTHS later, the lady from the studio called and I decided to give it another shot (even though I missed the 30 timeline. LOL)
Jeremy was in that class. And he was the only one in the class who could dance. So we started dancing together more...and started becoming friends.
Well, I was in a long-term relationship at the time! I'd been with the same person for almost 4 years...we lived together, owned a house together, had animals together, etc. So, needless to say, I didn't even consider Jeremy in THAT way. At first.
Jeremy and I (and my ex) became very good friends after a short amount of time. And we became full-time dance partners, taking all kinds of classes and workshops...and we danced about 4 or 5 days a week. We hung out nearly everyday. He even stayed in our guest room several times!
I thought he was THE nicest person I'd ever met. I was even trying to hook him up with my friends because I didn't think anyone that awesome should be single. :rofl:
Well, a few months into it, my ex and I broke up...for reasons not related to Jeremy.
After a little while, when Jeremy and I were at dance class, I said, "ya know....I'm single now. You should take me on a date." He grinned REALLY big. That weekend, we had our first date. And it was SO obvious this was huge.
A few months later, we were talking about marriage. About 8 months after we started dating, he proposed.
I love our story because of how big a fluke our meeting was. The studio waited SIX months to call me about the class. And he had been asked by the owners to join a class for months and he kept telling them no....but finally said yes for this particular one.
It was certainly meant to be. :heart:
