That was our fav as well...we adored it!! Not to mention that we heard it on the radio a million times...It really put into prespective just how much we've gone through to find the one...

Just thought I'd tell ya all, since we have talked about it a lot lately, Rascal Flats was on Regus and Kelly this morning singing Broken Road. We were watching it at work and FH listened to it and said "hey that would make a good wedding song, what do ya think?" I just cracked up laughing because the song made me think of you guys and how everyone loves it! Needless to say I told him we talk about that song a lot on here and he just rolled his eyes and went back to some paper work.
Hey ladies. I thought of another song for a wedding song, if there are any of you's who still like Bon Jovi? How about the song Always, or Thank you for loving Me.
Just a thought!:bblol:

Those are both great songs Kmac!
I found a couple sites that have lots of songs and you can click on them and read the lyrics:

We picked Bless the Broken road becaue the lyrics really do sound like they are talking about us. It is as if it was written for my FH and I. And it is the first song we ever danced to. The first weekend he was here we danced to it in his hotel room. So it isn't that it is just a great wedding song it has alot of meaning to us. I do LOVE the song though.

I haven't decided on what my fiancee and I will dance to for our first dance, but I know what my Dad and I will dance to: Fathers and Daughters by John Mayer. It's really beautiful and gets me teary eyed.

On a related note, here is a reception music outline from an e-book I wrote ...
~ Excerpt from "The Definitive Wedding Planning Guide" ~
- Background/Seating * This is background music playing as the guests are mingling before and after the couple enter the reception; this usually instrumental or soft love songs. “Dinner music”
- Cake cutting * Some people choose to play a song during the cake cutting and “sharing” … popular choices are: “When I'm 64” by The Beatles, and “How Sweet It Is …” by James Taylor or Marvin Gaye are good for the cutting part. Then for the sharing/feeding part, “Eat It” by Weird Al Yankovic,
the “Mission Impossible” theme, or the “Jeopardy Theme” songs are fun.
- First Dance * This is your special dance with your new husband. This can be “your song” or any love song you like and you can slow dance to. Some couples take ballroom dance lessons and do sort of a performance here. Don’t forget to do the dip and kiss at the end … makes for a great picture ;)
- Father/Daughter dance * This is where you dance with your father. One of the all time most popular songs for this spot is Bob Carlisle's “Butterfly Kisses”
- Mother/Son dance * This is a special dance for the groom and his mother. A popular song for this is “Wind beneath my wings” by Bette Midler or “Because you love me” by Celine Dion.
- Party/dance/mood * After the spotlight dances, you might want to invite all the couples for one more slow song then pick up the pace a bit. You set the mood for your reception. If you want to dance and have fun, some popular party/group participation songs are “The Electric Slide” “YMCA”,
“The Chicken Dance” and the “Conga Line” There are various versions of these songs out there. Ask your DJ for more ideas.
- Bouquet and Garter toss * Some popular and fun songs to play in these spots are: “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper for the bouquet toss and “The Stripper“ song for the garter removal and “Lets get ready to rumble“ for the toss and “Oh Yeah” by Yello, from the movie Ferris
Bueller's Day Of” when the garter is put on the leg of the girl that caught the bouquet.
- Last dance * This can be a slow song or one a little more up tempo. How about this - “I've Had the Time Of My Life” from the movie Dirty Dancing
- Getaway * This is the song that plays in the background as you leave from the reception. “Goodnight Sweetheart“ by The Spaniels is a pretty common song to be played here. You could also have a song that maybe talks about your honeymoon destination - “Kokomo” by The Beach Boys
--- Ask your DJ for more ceremony music ideas :)

We are going with Remember When by Alan Jackson, because it inspires us and makes us think about how we will be in fifty years. I really like Broken Road though and think that I might dedicate that to him later in the evening. I'm not sure what I am going to do for the father-daughter dance, but I am going to have a special dance for me and my siblings and our significant others, as well as everyone else who loved my mom (who passed away in 2001) and the song will be Holes In The Floor Of Heaven by Steve Wariner.

I can't have Holes in the Floor of Heaven played at my wedding because I will be emotional enough as it is and that song gets me every single time (just thinking about it now gets me misty eyed). It's a great song to remember someone by!
As far as the dedication thing goes, my FH and I both really liked two different songs and had a tough time deciding which would be our first dance. As a compromise, we stuck the other one as the last dance. We even have a special exit planned in which the couples will all be invited on the floor and then asked to leave and line up for our exit by how long they've been married...I saw it on a DJ video done the other way and I liked the idea.

OMG, I use to cry at every wedding during the Father/Daughter dance!
Popular ones I use to hear alot were 'Butterfly Kisses' or 'Daddy's Hands' (I don't know the name of the artist right off hand) I almost want to cry just thinking about it ;)

We're doing a "Mommy Dance" instead of a daddy/daughter dance and a mother/son dance...we'll both be dancing with our mama's together...and we'll be dancing to "Your Song" by Garth Brooks...he wrote it for his mom...:)

I have a dad, 2 actually but I wont be danceing with them for that one special dance. I plan on dancing with my mom. She has always been there no matter what. She was a single for a very long time. I am not close to my dad or my ex step dad. They gave me away at my first wedding but this time I am older and wiser and I know what I want. I want my mom to give me away. And she doenst know it yet but I am also dancing with her. I am going to use the song She's Somebody's Her. I cry every time I hear it now thinking that I will be playing that for my mom.

I cry when I hear the song I picked out too! I just think of how special that's going to be and I loose it...I do that with most of the songs we've picked...they've pretty much been banned from being played...lol

We arent dancing at the reception (I don't think, anyway). There's not really room for it! But, we need to figure out what music we're going to play during the ceremony.

If you are having an October Wedding and like Swing music, Moondance is a great song for you. I can't remember who it's by but it's a very fun song.

For our first dance together we are also using God Bless the Broken Road. I am on my second marriage and just turned 30. He has had his share of GF's and what not. We went through alot together in the past. So this song feels like it was written for us.
