Married life is just wonderful! My husband and I (I love saying husband, heheh!) are planning a road trip to Montreal, Canada for our first anniversary. We'll start in Atlanta and make our way through the Smokey Mountains. We will stop in DC, NYC, the Hershey Chocolate Factory in PA, Niagara Falls, and finally Montreal. I think we're going to try and take 9 days off (including weekends). I am so excited about this trip! What did you all do for your first anniversary or what do you plan to do?

Our first anniversary is in a little over a month. We want to go somewhere and do something special but have no clue what yet! LOL. Maybe Niagara Falls. Who knows! DH has 6 days off with the way his schedule is that weekend so the only thing set in stone is we will be taking a trip and getting out of town for a while!

I've never been there before, but Dh and lots of our family have. They all say the Canadian side is much better then the US side. So if we go, we will most likely stay on the Canadian side. I hear it is beautiful though.

I have never been to the US side but I can tell you that the Canadian side is awesome. There are all kinds of hotels in the area that cater to lovers :)

When are you planning the trip? If you want to email us, we would be happy to meet up with you when you get to Montreal or give you some suggestions of where to go and what to see. We can also help you out re: where to stop on the trip between Niagara and Montreal :)

Definately the Candian side is sooo much more beautiful than the US side. I have been to both. If you have a chance try to get on the "Maid of the Mist" boat ride it takes you right down to the falls but you will get wet! It's awesome to experience it! Also the gardens and the butterfly gardens are breathtaking! Very much worth the tour. They have tour bus that takes you to the whirl pool, gardens, butterfly gardens, which is really neat! The main drag which is called something hill..I can't remember has a lot of touristy things to do.. They have wax museums, haunted rides, stuff like that. I'm sure they are very costly but I never went into those things. I know they have a karoke bar that I have gone to both times I was up there and I loved it! It's outside and its so much fun to watch people get up and sing. It's even better when you have a bachelor or bachlorette party up there! That's wehn its quite amusing...Your stopping at Hershey! That's about an hour south of me! I love chocolate world!!! So many fun things to do there too! The road trip sounds like a great get away!!!

That sounds like SO much fun! Road trips are awesome. I have a little VW Bug and that thing is a fun road trip car for some reason. If you guys want to take a road trip for your anniversary where you are stuck next to eachother for hours upon hours then you MUST be doing wonderful! :D

I think, if we have the money, that we'll probably take a vacay up North so that Chad can see some snow. Before we got our Mexico honeymoon as a gift, that's what we had wanted to do for our honeymoon.

Thanks, we are planning for August of 2008. I know we want to see the Botanical Gardens, shop of course, and I think we might stay at a bed and breakfast. Know of any historical sites?

Whatcha doing next week? We have a week off and we were planning to just stay at home but MA isn't far from Montreal at all :)

Hugh and I talked last night about planning our 5th anniversary + Hugh's 50th birthday. Thinking about a month long trip to OZ or England/Ireland/Scotland. Whatever we don't do, we can do 2 years after that for my 20th birthday LOL

Hey I am still on leave Elizabeth. I will go down and see you if you go there. I would have to. Meeting you two would be so cool. Not sure it woudl be possible at all with 3 kids and a car not working right but hey that would be a blast if one day we could all meet. That would be too cool.

That would be fun. It certainly sounds better than our current vacation plans of finally doing our taxes, going to the dentist, tackling clean up of the storage closet or having a mamogram!

Well lets really think about it. You get free samples and they do tours. Its fantastic!!! Oh man, I am so excited now..

Gwen, I am hoping to get pregnant, but if do have a baby by the summer everyone will just come to me and you bring your kids and we will have a fantastic time. Either way, we really need to think about it. With you, me, Amanda and Elizabeth are close as well. WE should go to the beach somewhere too... In Maine or New Hampshire. Old Orchard Beach or Weirs Beach, oh geez.. So exciting. :)

Okay...Pros and Cons about Massachusetts in October

Pros=
Beautiful foliage
Cooler weather
Apple picking
Duck tours still in season
Patriots are playing
I'm here!

Cons=
It is New England after all...Weather can never be predicted
Boston after dark = BIG NO NO...Higher crime rate this year than in previous 7 years

Oh loook at that..Pros outweigh the cons...I guess you'll just have to think about it :)
